Knicks · THJr playing like an all star the last 10 games (page 1)

21pts 5rebs 3asts....

Talk about it

Uptown @ 11/16/2017 1:08 PM
I hung my ass out there and predicted that THJ would average 20 pts this season...He got off to a terrible start but he's playing like the player I saw the last month and a half in ATL...Actually, he's playing a better well-rounded game. If this continues, we need to give Mills credit for seeing the potential...
VDesai @ 11/16/2017 1:17 PM
His passing, ball handling and rebounding are double what they were when he was here before. He can sometimes be a bit JR Smith like scoring the ball, but guy has confidence and can catch fire.
VDesai @ 11/16/2017 1:18 PM
Looks like he might be worth the contract. They had to make it so Atlanta couldn't match and if he sustains this level of play it will be at market or maybe even below in a few years. NBA salaries rise faster than inflation....
SupremeCommander @ 11/16/2017 1:23 PM
He has been very, very good... I think it helps that KP and Kanter are two of the most improved players in the league. I don't know if he'd look this good if he'd have to find his own shot but, hey, we don't really need to worry about it and he has been playing great, no question
BigDaddyG @ 11/16/2017 1:42 PM
Tim is up and down. He'll play like crap one stretch and like an All-Star the next stretch. I'm not surprised and his play was never really the reason I don't like the signing. He's a solid two-guard and I'm supporting him. He's a Knick and I want him to do good. If he keeps this up for most of the season, I'll be the first to say I was wrong about the signing.

I always thought the media were being overly harsh with his contract while ridiculously praising the nets for landing Crabbe on the same money. Crabbe has been trash

I agree that the media was tough yet before he merits All star status, let’s see who the competition is. Any idea ? Or just shooting from the hip?

ESPN has 9 SGs ranked in east top 50. THJr not among them. Don’t annoint him yet.

WaltLongmire @ 11/16/2017 2:14 PM
Better court vision...better passing...better going to the basket...better feet on D.

Saw him in some kind of pickup or celebrity game guarding Harden, and I think I commented about it here...He picked up the D in Atlanta, I assume, and it is night and day from his first tour with the Knicks.

So far, so good.

nixluva @ 11/16/2017 2:30 PM
THJ has been at times a bit over anxious to have an impact but he’s starting to settle in more and more tho still being prone to a few I’ll adv shots. The overall performance by THJ has been a positive impact as we’ve moved along.

I argued that THJ coming off his last season was worthy of investing in. Where else could the Knicks have gotten a 25 yr old SG of his caliber that was ascending? The Knicks bet on his continued progression which seemed logical to me. He’s living up to that prediction.

meloshouldgo @ 11/16/2017 2:43 PM
I don't honestly care about houw many points he puts up unless it comes playing within a system offense and team basketball. THJR has been living on the fringe. There are times he plays very well in that context and other times when he doesnt seem to try. Given the type of money he makes, I definitely want to see more from him.
Knixkik @ 11/16/2017 3:15 PM
THjr is definitely proving to be a legit #2 option. Signing him is very similar to the Knicks signing Allan Houston. History repeats itself. Personality wise, he fits the bill, that's for sure. Just a killer like his dad. I don't expect Porzingis to average 30 a game this year, i expect him to settle into 25-27 ppg. So Hardaway becoming that second guy is key. He looks like a 18-20 ppg scorer for the next 5 plus years, and the key will be improving efficiency and all-around play, which he is clearly doing. It's crazy to think, but we aren't that far away from having a legit core group of players that can grow together into something special.

More than 21, 5 and 3?

Same here....He has the potential to be a solid second scorer. I think Lee is just as solid to me, but given THJ's age, this signing might be a good one. Noah on the other hand.......

More consistency and more playing within the offense. If he can average 17/5/5 game and check both those checkboxes I'll be a fan. I have posted before I want to see a higher floor for his game and I am willing to take a lower ceiling as trade off.

TheGame @ 11/16/2017 7:20 PM
TH Jr just needs to cut down on the heat check jumpers and stay within the offense a little more. He tends to get wild, but he definitely is looking like he may be able to live up to the contract.
Allanfan20 @ 11/16/2017 7:51 PM
He’s about where I hoped for this season. He needs to raise his field goal percentage though. He is inconsistent.

I remember reading your post and I was really glad that you wrote it. He has looked fantastic recently and like he will live up to his contract.

411% shooting and 309% from the three... does not an All Star make. Or does it?

To be fair, he got off to a horrid start (perhaps a result of new contract stress, or the fact that the he didn’t know the plays), and is averaging 19.6 points per game on 44.3 percent in November, although he’s making threes at a similarly unreliable clip this month.
