The Bucks have at least four or five above-average defenders in Antetokounmpo (who has a DPOY ceiling), Eric Bledsoe, Tony Snell and, at times, Khris Middleton. Add in at least average defenders in John Henson, Malcolm Brogdon and Matthew Dellavedova, and Milwaukee should have at least an average defense. That hasn’t been the case. Milwaukee currently ranks 25th in defensive efficiency per ESPN. That follows a ranking of 17th last season.

Much of the problem seems to stem from Kidd’s ultra-aggressive scheme that consistently gave up either corner 3-pointers or shots at the rim — if not both. Kidd never adjusted as the NBA evolved, which is inexcusable with a team that should be competing for a top-five seed in the Eastern Conference behind Antetokounmpo.

Impressed with the way Giannis went to bat for Kidd. Say what you want about Kidd, did something right to engender that kind of loyalty. Class act.

Kidd a class act? Or Giannis?
Maybe Kidd favored Giannis above all so ownership would be scared to fire him fearing Giannis reprisal?

Giannis. I remember an interview with Giannis when Kidd became the Head Coach. He said had no idea who Kidd was as a player. Went to his wikipedia page (or some site like that) and read the long list of Kidd's accomplishments on the court from his early days on, and it really got his attention.

Thats what Giannis said. Im guessing that a good deal of his loyalty comes from respect for Kidd as a very soon to be HOFer. One player showing respect for one of the greats, who looks like he has helped in some way, to take his game to the next level.
