Knicks · Knowing KP..i am pretty sure he will be back by beginning of the next season (page 1)

A local orthopedist and knee specialist is optimistic Kristaps Porzingis will make a full recovery from the torn left ACL he suffered in the Knicks’ loss to the Bucks Tuesday night.

But the timetable for Porzingis’ return to the court is less concrete and can vary anywhere from six to 12 months, according to Dr. Armin Tehrany, the founder of Manhattan Orthopedic Care.

Rushing to come back from a serious injury. I cannot explain how stupid this would be for KP and the Knicks.

January 1st. 11 months. Extend him. Pay the kid.
Messiahs sometimes need to go away for a while.

I think he will be back at earliest by December, at latest by January. It will be earlier in the season than most think though.

Hope its more than just his brother handling the rehab. Ok for training, not coming back from a serious injury.

KP should find someone to help him with his post game, once he starts getting back to playing shape. Something to make KP run around less to get a good look.

During his rehab he will still get plenty of shots up and strength training. Working on his post game and watching film. He doesn't need to be playing pickup to improve. He will come back a better player when healthy just by focusing on some of these things during his rehab.

Not sure what you are responding to, since I said nothing about pick up games. I did say Id like someone to work with KP on his post game. Like Amare did with Hakeem.

James Andrews is a surgeon and considered the top ACL guy in pretty much the entire world. His influence is so pervasive, it's even rumored that CAA offered him a lifetime contract to leave the Tide/Redskins to work for them exclusively.

He was interviewed right after he handled Adrian Peterson, who had, by record, one of the fastest ACL recoveries in all of modern sports history, and said the unfair thing was that Peterson was an outlier by every conceivable measure. That every future ACL recovery would be compared to Peterson's timeline, but that Peterson was a genetic freak on a scale no one has ever seen before. He made three basic points

A) No one knows if a player will ever return to his previous form, or not.
B) No one knows a players recovery timeline
C) The line of medical privacy and professional ethics gets blurred badly when it comes to professional athletes ( He pointed out physicians trying to get attention to themselves would comment publicly on non patients and on things like XRays or charts gleaned on video or in the background of interviews. )

No one knows. Sucks for fans, but no one knows.

Obviously each situation is unique, but i think age is probably the biggest factor as far as overall recovery.
