Knicks · Should we offer Jabari Parker 2 years 48mm with option for 3? (page 6)

Big gamble at that money. If he gets hurt again, you've set yourself back 2 years again. 2 years at MLE is fine. I would not risk 25% of the cap on a player with 2 ACL on the same knee.

Even when healthy he is not the defensive 4 this team needs.

so Parker sounds like a big baby

We already are set back with worthless Noah, might as well take a big swing.

Im actually higher than I was on this player when I made this post. Hes 100% fine and hes way better than Tim Hardaway who we gave 68mm to.

I think 24 mm a year may be a tad high--but almost no way to get a player like this at this age. 4 years 74mm 18.5mm a yr guaranteed. I have zero worries about his knees--they are fine. This guy can be a star--it is nOt easy finding an NBA star--now lets hope the Bucks lose the next game and Parker plays so so.

Im much higher on parker than I am on the draft or anything else. This would be priority 1.

Ira @ 4/22/2018 10:35 PM
Parker is weak defensively and not that good on offense. It's not a good idea to tie up a lot of money on a player like that. On espn's real +/-, he ranks 87 out of 92 power forwards.

“Briggs was gonna build thru the draft, but then he got High,

I really like to watch players rather than give a +- stat which can mean almost nothing. He was real good both ways last two games--and thats what many games looked like down the stretch. This is a star type player who is getting his legs under him--the odds of finding a Jabari Parker in free agency is almost nothing. Guy is 23 years old. Just to remind ---we paid 17mm for a 3rd string C and 17mm for a 7th type man. Jabari Parker can be a star NBA player at 6-8 245. You put him at 4 and KP at 5 your team changes. Ive changed my stance on draft because I want Parker--think we should go for defensive role player in Bridges who can shoot 3 and find our offense with Parker. Thats two good sized wings. For KPs long term health a transition to a mobile 5 would be best.

Its the opposite. If you worry about KPs health then you pair him with another PF/center until he shows signs of playing the 5. Parker is a SF playing PF. KP is a PF playing center. Having two undersize players guarding the paint is a recipe for desaster. Now if you said Green from GS, then Im on board.

Ira @ 4/23/2018 8:59 AM
KP struggles to put on weight and keep it on. He's been somewhat injury prone. I think moving him to center would be a mistake. Regarding Parker - everyone has good games. But his overall production after several years in the league doesn't warrant a huge contract. When we give out big contracts to players who don't produce, we tie up our cap and guarantee mediocre season after season.

It would be like Amare all over again. No knees. No defense. No thanks

Briggs - why no mention of Parker's 1st 2 games in Boston where he played 10 and 15 mins and scored 1 point.

Briggs comes out of his shell after two wins.
