Knicks · What type of trade can get us Lonzo Ball? (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 7/8/2018 5:36 PM
I'm not overpaying but I think he would be a great long term playmaking complimentary guy. We can keep Frank has our new Chris Childs. But with the horses we have upfront we need a playermaker
Something like
Lee Mudiay and Lance Thomas for lonzo and deng?
GustavBahler @ 7/8/2018 5:54 PM
The same one that gets us Lavar, pass.
KNICKSBIGCATS @ 7/8/2018 5:58 PM
Agree that the Knicks need a playmaker, BRIGGS, but 1000% agree with Gustav that
the drama that Lavar creates is not worth rolling the dice on your proposal.

Can you imagine Lavar Ball with the NY Press corps. I thought we were getting away from being "The Circus". Sorry Lonzo. NO.

Yeah. It sucks that Lavar is such a problem. I think Lonzo will be a very good player for a long time but the negatives his dad brings out weigh the positives of having Lonzo on the team.
TheGame @ 7/8/2018 9:01 PM
Please ban him again. He is off his meds.

I think Jim Dolan could handle him.

Put him in charge of the Liberty.

The Knick are giving up way too much in this scenario. Noah and Lance Thomas for Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, three 2nd round picks and Deng is about right.

And I can handle Charlotte Johanson stripping in front of my face. Yup, I’d just ignore her good.

A bad one.

Need to keep "Bad Dad" Lavar out of NYC. I like Lonzo.
Neither Frank or Lonzo really has ascertainable value as they are works in progress. Frank excels defensively where Lonzo pushes the ball. Both are young and will get better. I would be fun to have both.
Frank is a knick and I want to see this kid thru. What would Lakers want? Not sure knicks are in a position to make trades like this.
I'd pass.

franco12 @ 7/9/2018 8:32 AM
I can see Ball getting traded to some small market like Memphis or Sacramento or Charlotte. But not NYC.

On paper, it would be a great trade. But the whole reason he is available is his dad is a head ache and not sure he is ever going to live up to the hype.

Nalod @ 7/9/2018 1:46 PM
I'd take Lonzo and trade his dad to Milwaukee!
nyk2017 @ 7/9/2018 2:36 PM
What kind of trade will get us Ball? - The kind that we don't need. Frank was awesome last night and I would rather see how he develops.

omg this thread is hysterical from start to finish. keep lonzo and his whack old man out of here. let's keep the pieces that fiz/perry/mills are feeling and give them a chance to see what's what. we can switch out as we go. gotta admit they seem to know what they're doing at the moment, no?
technomaster @ 7/9/2018 9:22 PM
Interesting analysis from Arenas. It's basically saying that his mid-range game is hampered by his unorthodox shooting form.

Basically it's saying that he's Jose Calderon with better rebounding. Calderon was hampered by suboptimal athleticism (limiting his ability to penetrate and get off mid-range jumpers off the dribble), but still had superior court vision and strong spot up shooting.

Yeah...he needs a small market/small media team- it would give him a chance to breath, take away some pressure.

Most of all, though, he needs his father to step back, and either stay away from the press, or give Derrick Jeter type bland responses to questions.

The NY media would love having his dad around, though.

homeskillitprigioni @ 7/9/2018 9:48 PM
Pretty cool to see Derrick Jeter and Charlotte Johanson in the same thread!
Mike1989 @ 7/10/2018 7:50 AM
The Lakers need shooting so they could take Courtney Lee, a 40 plus percent 3 point shooter, and perhaps Lance Thomas or Tim Hardaway as a pair. Then we'd need to take on Deng's contract and Lonzo. We'd likely need to include picks. So even though there might be a desire to consider trading Lonzo, he isn't a bargain basement kinda purchase. He still has value. It's a question whether we think he's a star or just a so-so player. If it's the former then having Lonzo, Knox and KP as our trio is a solid foundation. However if he's just a so-so player because he's not going to develop a consistent shot or become a better scorer, and this is before the Lavar concerns, then we'd be wise to pass on him.

For me I'd not go after Lonzo. This time next year we'll have point guards like Kyrie, Kemba, Teague and Dragic puts potentially hitting open market. So if we do well enough attracting one of them is a possibility whether that's a 26 or 28 year old all star or a solid veteran to give us consistent production alongside our improving youth. I'd rather wait and bet on free agency, or even bet on Frank or Burke becoming the answer before giving up too much for Lonzo.
