Remember you won't have a good fuzzy feeling for some our players even though they are the future.

Frank will be better, but he won't be a finished product and some of you have limited imagination.
Knox might look awful at times. If Fiz is going to mature him, he might have to physically grow before the talent can shine.
Mitchell might just foul out every game. But he'll learn from it.

Hopefully this is the last losing season we have to endure for many years to come. I'll comfort myself with the draft pick (new rules mean you don't necessarily have to be the absolute worst team to stand an equal shot of a top 3 pick), and the development of Frank, Mitch, Trier and Knox.
knicks1248 @ 10/12/2018 12:46 PM
losing 50+ games doesn't all fall to youth and lack of talent. Obviously we have had much more talent than this and loss 50+ games.

Coaching, effort, and defense should allow you to win at least 50% of your games by itself.

Nobody played hard for JH, especially after the Noah incident, and in his first yr nobody wanted to play that stupid triangle, nobody's heart was in it,and the effort was never there for more than a quarter, especially after the phil/melo public feud.

None of that will happen under fiz and his staff, so we have a good chance of being much better than predicted, especially if we stay healthy

This is the first year for a long time I am not sure on winning 29 games or less.
This team can really do better depending on heath and players development progress.
But expectations are still low just because the win/loss results are not at all important.

Does THJr break out now with no other star on the floor?
Can Kanter learn something from the SkinnyShaq and Fiz about moving your feet properly on defense? Even just a little?
Is Lance shooting more than 600 shots a day after and before practices? Will it matter? Can he become our full time Roberson without getting hurt?
Does this grit being displayed by our overpaid Baker possibly turn into a season-long RonSanity?
Fuck KP for this season. We couldn't get much better than losing 50+ games with him, so take all the time in the world, unicorn. See you in training camp 2019.
Alex, I'll take He Still Smells of Phil for 200 and some draft picks for Lee, please.
Jimmie, please just pay Noah to go away. Now. This type of stupid owner interference we need.

Meanwhile Fiz lets the kids run and run and run. Here, in Westchester, maybe he even rents a bunch of Bosh-types and holds full-on practice games in some facility somewhere. Let the kids sweat and beat up on old retired guys.

40 wins or so and we freak somebody out slightly before losing in 5 in the first round.

Guys, All I am saying is if the agenda is player development it won't always add up to wins. 32-50 is not an epically bad season. All in on this rebuilding youth movement in year two post Melo is all we are in. Frank might have had his "500 Possessions" and under ACC exposure given his Franconess but and Mitchell just homeschooled himself. Knox played one year at U.K. and had to share the ball.
KP is out. We can argue all day about Hardaway but he'll tell his own story, not me or anyone else. I like he has been quiet. He don't have to say what we all want to hear. His play will.

Player development is definitely on the agenda. But in regards to playing time, remember what Fiz said,
“Roll that ball out and whoever takes the spot, takes the spot,” he said.

In I generally believe him but at times its subjective. Lance gets the nod but likely does not finish the season as starter. The Backcourt is a dog fight. All things being equal, the yoots will get time.

Positives:
NO MORE PHIL OR MENTION OF THE FUCKING TRIANGLE
Fizdale is a real coach.
Perry seems to have a good plan.
We have several young players that are real athletic and fast.
Mudiay had a whole preseason and half of year with the squad. May finally live up to expectations.
Frank has had one year under his belt. is an elite defender and has been told by Fiz to let it go.
Knox seems like a true lotto pick and has massive upside.
Kanter will have a great year since his contract is expiring.
KP may be back by January for a push to the playoffs.
Lee is still one of the best veteran SG in the league.
Timmy is no longer in a Triangle system and should be allowed to flourish, It has been rumored he is focused on improving his D.
Herzonga, /Burke, and Vonleh want to prove they deserved being high picks.
Trier and Robinson want to prove they should have been 1st rounders.
Dotson has showed the most improvement among the first year guys.
Baker has improved enough to be a starter. (As of today).
Dolan wants to prove he can stay the fuck away.
Noah will stay home on the farm with Phil.

Negatives:
WE ARE THE KNICKS

This may seem negative but right now Im not convinced anybody outside of KP is a building block piece. Knox has been brutal. Awful shot selection, awful decision making, out of control drives into the paint with prayer heaves. The guy is shooting 33%. Frank is so bad offensivly he makes Lance Thoams look like Kevin Durant ( Yes an Exaggeration but not by much). I'm already convinced he is not starter. I didn't like him when he was drafted and I still haven't seen enough of him to believe he is anything more than a backup guard. Im hoping we end the charade and get a real pg this off-season. Hardaway has improved but I would still drop him for cap space. Trier looks alright he could be a rotation player. Always room for microwave offense off the bench, Mitchell RObinson could be a rotation player - lots of energy above average rim protector - great contract. I have seen very little to be positive about.
We have 2 legitimate NBA starters Kristaps and Hardaway jr. I pray to god we are able to get a 3rd and 4th one this off-season. We have fallen twice on draft day its time for things to go our way this time. If we are lucky enough to get Williamsom I look to move Knox. Not crazy about a WIlliamson, Knox, Porzingis frontcourt.

Knox missed 7 games, so we taking about less than 10 games into his career. On any teams sniffing .500 he would to be a starter. Or would have Frank. Not sure we even draft Mitch or he just becomes a “Christian Wood” type low % project. Trier would not have opportunity to play as he has.
There is little to be enthusiastic about other than the knicks are a team of opportunities because its depleted. We are not “Rebuilding” because it might assume there was something to begin with.
Yes, only KP is legit and he is suspect because of his height and health.
But........
This why they are interesting. For some that are on fire its about results that are not there.
Could we have imagined this scenario 12 months ago? New coach’s, few settled roster spots, drafting blue chips but very young and raw? So when we say this will take a few years and after 15-16 games we are lacking enthusiasm is it really that surprising? If you bought the SL hype and thought it would carry over (rarely does) then I suppose so.
I’m not clairvoyant enough to predict how this team unfolds and thus won’t attach myself to anything other than enjoying the games to see how this young group works tru or DOES NOT. It’s. Drama that unfolds for a few years.
Knox and Frank are really young and show POTENTIAL. Robinson too. KP is a cornerstone as will our next pick. Knicks have money and upside. Durant is not stupid, he does not have to see things to know the potential. If he is down being part of a process and not a ready made team then perhaps living in NY is what he wants and the experience of being part of a growth. Lebron is doing this. Sometimes legacies are already set. I’m hanging on to this hope. I’m not delusional.
Fiz is also a growth potential. We don’t need players and FO that has proven in other areas. We have done that many times and itself does not guarantee success. Can’t snap our fingers and just acquire talent. It takes time.
Knicks messed up for years. Starting from zero is painful but sometimes you have to understand as a fan just how bad it is. How bad it was, and as Triple says we really have no choice but persue the long version.
16 games in. Call it what it is, A tank but one with purpose to develope. It’s a worthy process that should yield in time. Question is how much time? We don’t know. Our UK hater/critics are somehow repulsed by the lack results. It’s their choice. Seems foolish to think beyond logic and comprehension of what the team is doing. Media can sell that anger. I don’t buy it.
Wins don’t define my interest in this team.

I don't care about wins either I just want the young guys to look like competent NBA players. Frank looks awful. I know there are a lot of supporters for him but how they can continue to spin his play as positive is beyond me. Frank can not shoot at all. This is something Frank could of improved on in the off-season and he has made no strides at all. He is shooting 26% from 3, 34.4 from the floor. His offense is so bad lately his minutes have been slashed. Is asking Frank to be some progress on offense to much to ask? Is it hating? I was hoping we could get 10ppg 4.5 assists 45% from the floor, 35% from 3 this season. He does that maybe he has some value as a 3 and D guard.
What has me worried is Franks shooting has been so bad lately his minutes have suffered which is the worst thing for Frank. Frank is Fizdales must difficult challenge and how he develops might determine how long he coaches the Knicks. The kid has zero confidence offensivly and cutting his minutes because he is considering a change of profession to a mason might make him even more afraid to shoot. The Knicks need Frank to be good. They need his defense and a respectable offensive game. Fizdale needs to give Frank 30 minutes no matter what the outcome.
