The Phoenix Suns are nearing agreement on a deal with the Miami Heat of Ryan Anderson for Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington.

Johnson has one season remaining on his contract at $19.3 million.

The Heat will save on the cap and luxury tax in 19-20 with the move.

Ellington could be rerouted to another team before the deadline.

Don’t really understand it from Miami’s point of view, very good for suns

Luxury tax, this year and next. At best Miami is one and done in playoffs for this year and next, might as well cut corners

Tyler Johnson is the perfect example of why you don't extend Mudiay. And, truth be told, I think I'd take Johnson 9x out of 10 over Mudiay.

miami being called brilliant for lowering their tax bill

ok, get hyped

GoNyGoNyGo @ 2/6/2019 8:01 PM
Portis and Parker to Wash for Porter

GoNyGoNyGo @ 2/6/2019 8:06 PM
its getting hot...

Cartman718 @ 2/6/2019 9:54 PM
Just started watching the Mavs game tonight. None of the ex Knicks on the floor at the beginning of the 3rd quarter
Cartman718 @ 2/6/2019 9:55 PM
At the moment on the bench from left to right. THJr Burke Lee KP
Cartman718 @ 2/6/2019 10:34 PM
THJr has started his Wes Matthews career by launching 16 shots so far, making 5. Can we say thank goodness again for getting rid of his contract
sidsanders @ 2/6/2019 11:46 PM
how does ernie g still have a job. blew a 1st to get morris (and they dont make the playoffs) and now has to unload a 2nd to get rid of him. dumps porter (who he matched in rfa) in a salary dump. has traded every 1st since 2013 and has no 2nds till 2023 and has a supermax on the shelf for maybe another season.

This has been the best 1 week run up to the trade deadline in years!

Pelicans have truly counter-screwed the lakers. After leaking all the players the Lakers offered (which basically included the whole team) then refusing to deal, they've destroyed the Lakers team chemistry and left Lebron looking really bad (in addition to alienating all his team mates he's also been campaigning to get rid of the coach). Not sure how he turns this one around, especially with no big FA's lined up to go to the lakers in the offseason. They need to pray the Pelicans are bluffing.

Pelicans not dealing AD, must make Irving less lively to NY- his main issue seems to be with the younger Boston Players. If boston ships them out for AD in the offseason, then I don't see Irving leaving.

Don't see any other big deals happening today- just waiting to see where Marc gasol ends up (they've cleared out his locker), last I read was they were trying to work out a deal with the Hornets- could have implications on wither Kemba stays or not (for those that want him as a backup plan).

Also whether Conley gets dealt to the Jazz, or whether he and Gasol get sent to the Raptors (Hahn said Lowry's back is shot and won't last through the playoffs).

Don't think AD gets dealt, though maybe the Pelicans complete their perfect vengeance and deal him to the Clips (after getting the Lakers to implode)- that would be cold blooded!

Don't see us making any deals as we can't take on any extra salary.

Good point. Pels win either the revenge game, get an even better offer, or get a better offer and still make LBJ look like a back stabber

About time

Love this for the bucks

For real. Sounds like hyperbole but this makes them jump up a level

If Dray Green can't stop Giannis one on one, Bucks can give GS a run for its money (ok a little hyrperbole)

smackeddog @ 2/7/2019 1:55 PM

Hornets miss out, could increase chances of kemba leaving? (Assuming they would have been better with gasol

I’m really looking forward to this years playoffs. Still think sixers should have targeted mirotic instead of tobias

Think about Toronto. With all of their success: they trade their coach (after he wins coach of the year); trade their best player for Kawhi (coming off an injury an expressed desire for sun, not ice); now trading for an old center -- and who knows perhaps ready to trade Lowry too (if someone willing to take his bad back)

Worse for them is lowry’s Back injury- Hahn said it’s basically shot and he might not make it through the playoffs.

Here’s the trade, not sure who most of the players are so can’t say if it’s good or bad:
