No way it's a coincidence that Royal Ivey is on the bench of the Knicks.

Frank has what it takes to become a very rare player in the league
In that he would be a two way impact player at the point

You don’t see many players who can do it on defense on the ball and then also run the offense

He still needs a year or two.

Can we dismiss the theory that Frank can guard 4-5 positions. He was getting KILLLED guarding Indys power forwards. I think they scored every time Frank got switched over on to them.

actually one of the few times Sabonis didnt score was when Frank stripped him. I didnt see that. Thad Young destroyed our guards everytime. Timmy/Frank go caught on him a few times.

The guy who really got exposed last night was Kanter

Frank still needs to add about 10-15 pounds of muscle to his frame before he can really start to physically impose himself on the competition. I think that added weight will also give him more confidence to drive to the basket. He looks better this year than last. If he looks better next year then by year 4, Frank should be a beast for us on offense and defense.

I think it depends on who you're talking about? burly bruiser, no he gets pushed around but the question is why was he switched on him

string bean (e.g., KD) he does ok

Were people saying he could guard 4-5 positions?

Thank you for asking that. He can guard multiple positions not all 5.

Yup. He can guard some 4s. He will have problems with physical PFs. Stretch 4s however he can guard pretty well.

NYKBocker @ 11/1/2018 12:10 PM
Frank is the perfect PG to compliment KP and THJr. He is out there trying to set them up rather than taking shots away from them.

Of course he can, the 1, 2 and 3. He can't guard big 4's and def not 5's. Yes people said that Frank is so good defensively and with his log arms that he can guard almost anyone on the court. No way. Meloshouldgo how can you have opinions on this site that people respect when you admit that you don't watch many if any games? You look at the box score and decide on that? Let me guess , you stayed at a Holiday Inn last night?

Few times? Um, Sabonis didn't miss a shot. He scored every time down low except once. Maybe that was the strip. You really can't defend Frank here with that argument.

I never took the theory that Frank could guard 4-5 positions so literally as you may have, but there is no doubt that Frank is capable of giving 4's and some 5's lots of trouble on switches and also help out from wherever he is. Is Durant a 4 and did Frank cover him quite nicely on that one play that is in the highlights? Sure, but it's not an end all.

One on one where the 4 or 5 is in his wheelhouse and can so obviously out muscle the still-skinny Frank? No.

Can Frank occasionally switch over to a 4 and be much more competent than a big majority of PGs in the league? Yes.

Good article and nice to see Herring praising the Knicks. When he was on the Knick beat I always felt like he didn't like the team.

If you are referring to me, I'm NOT holding it against Frank,LOL, for not providing def against a 4 or 5. I'm remarking to the "people" or "persons" who over state Franks defense , saying how he can defend 4 or 5 positions on the court. He did the best he could but he got killed by Indys power forwards last night.

I don't think it has been overstated. He has already shown dating back to his rookie season that he can deny entry passes as well as successfully stay in front and hold his positions for the most part if he is forced to switch. There will probably be some players that just have his number and he can't do so as successfully and vise versa. Saying he can guard 4s doesn't mean he will lineup at PF and own everyone he faces.

There also was a video recently posted showing all the ground Frank covers using his length and proper angles. At the end of the day the kid puts in a ton of effort to disrupt passing lanes, help defense and man defense.
