Out for rest of season with microfracture in his foot. Another delicate 7 footer....

Bol is a top 5 talent, but I wouldn't touch him especially since we already KP who I worry may battle injuries most of his career...

I wouldn't touch him either. Too similar to KP without the upside. Morant would be amazing though.

I wonder, is no one worried about Zion since he can't shoot? Yeah, NBA has lots of space, but...
I just want us to finish in the top 3 because of those new rules.

I think Morant has become the 3rd best prospect behind Zion and Barrett. If we drafted at 3, i would be very content with him and signing a vet PG like Rubio or Collison on an overpay 2 year contract to provide leadership and assist in development. We really need to get a difference maker at PG with this offense being built around KP and Knox. You can plug and play at any other position, but it's essential to have a difference maker at PG and i don't think Mudiay cuts it.

KnickDanger @ 1/4/2019 2:04 PM
Unfortunately the Bol injury may impact us -- I can't imagine we would have taken him anyway but say we're at #5 or 6 and a team that would have taken him at 3 or 4 goes elsewhere -- that's one less player sliding down. If we're top 3 it probably wouldn't matter but....
nyknickzingis @ 1/6/2019 6:38 AM
Top 3 would be good.

Plan A - Draft Zion
Sign D'Angelo Russell (Or sign and trade him for him using Trier, Trey Burke, Draft picks)

Porzingis/Zion/Knox/Frank/Russell

Plan B - Draft Maront or RJ
Sign Julius Randle

Porzingis/Randle/Knox/Barrett/Frank
Porzingis/Randle/Knox/Frank/Maront

If we're in the top 3, we're going to be in a really good place. We can draft a really really good talent, such as Zion/RJ/Maront, a player likely that can start right away and be an all-star down the road in the future, we get Porzingis back healthy, we can use our capspace to sign a young free agent on the inclibe like Russell or Randle.

My free agent targets would be Rozier or Russell if we draft Zion. Randle if we draft Morant or RJ.

I won't cling onto hopes that we can get Zion with the #1, but I do hope we atleast stay in the top 3. We really need to get in there, it will put us in a really good position longterm. And yes, I want to see us get a chance with Porzingis, Knox, Frank, a young free agent and the top 3 pick all in the same lineup before I give up on Frank's future in NY. Players with his defensive skill and size are rare in the NBA. So long as he can hit the outside 3, around a lineup loaded with scorers and shot creators, I think he will thrive.

Our bench would still have 2 starting caliber NBA proven players on it, like Hardaway and Lee.

6'3 170, sounds like another liability on defense, but what is his outside shooting like

How is a length6 6"3' frame a recipe for defensive issues as a PG?

The slight frame at that height. 170 lbs. trae Young is 6’2 180 and gets abused defensively daily

Shai Gilgeous Alexander projects as a stopper and he's only 181 lbs as a pro. I don't think strength matters as much as a perimeter defender, especially if the player has length. Besides, Morant is only 18 years old and has time to fill out.

doesn't look like it from his frame unless he has westbrook work ethic. he looks skinny with narrow shoulders unlike Knox who could look like Lebron frame when he fills out

Morant's wingspan is said to be pretty good as well. He also gets 7 rebs a game. And is 19 as a sophomore.

For sure interesting prospect and when they start playing varsity games and he shows up against top schools it will be more apparent if he has the goods. Thru combines and workout/visits he'll be vetted and then its a coinflip after that anyway! Drafting is not an easy process!
Except for some fans.

Zion hitting threes.

Tre Jones is a pretty good point guard, able to read the game adjust and impact the game. Makes players around him better and has a high IQ
jskinny35 @ 1/8/2019 8:08 PM
Don't know much about the draft yet (aside from RJ, Zion and Morant a little) - if this is a 3 man draft with a big dropoff and we land pick 5 or 6... should we consider packaging Frank or Trier and our pick for a top 3 pick? Wondering what the knowledgeable draft people think about these 3. Example, if Ja is really going to be a very good/great PG - is he worth moving up for? At what cost? Regardless I'm on board with signing Rubio if possible, as I don't think any of the big fish are more needed (and willing to come) for this team currently.

Third best A/T ratio in the NCAA, 5 games with zero TOs

That's three threes today. Guy can blow by bigger slower players, bulldoze his way past smaller ones, can dunk from the free throw line and now he hits threes.
