OH baby if they could pull that off (and not sacrifice too much )could make a real good day !

Like which one? I’m not taking this kid top 5 in any recent draft bar the one with Ben Simmons

Kenny Walker?
Is all this saying much though, to be real?
If you've only had 2 top 3 picks ever what does that mean?
We've either been good, mediocre, or not bad enough.
But let's also be real, here's the record on that pick:
Year Player School/Country – Team
2017 Jayson Tatum, Duke – Boston Celtics
2016 Jaylen Brown, California – Boston Celtics
2015 Jahlil Okafor, Duke – Philadelphia 76ers
2014 Joel Embiid, Kansas – Philadelphia 76ers
2013 Otto Porter, Georgetown – Washington Wizards
2012 Bradley Beal, Florida – Washington Wizards
2011 Enes Kanter, Kentucky – Utah Jazz
2010 Derrick Favors, Georgia Tech – New Jersey Nets
2000’s
2009 James Harden, Arizona State – Oklahoma City Thunder
2008 O.J. Mayo, USC – Minnesota Timberwolves
2007 Al Horford, Florida – Atlanta Hawks
2006 Adam Morrison, Gonzaga – Charlotte Bobcats
2005 Deron Williams, Illinois – Utah Jazz
2004 Ben Gordon, Connecticut – Chicago Bulls
2003 Carmelo Anthony, Syracuse – Denver Nuggets
2002 Mike Dunleavy, Duke – Golden State Warriors
2001 Pau Gasol, Spain – Atlanta Hawks
2000 Darius Miles, East St. Louis HS (Mo.) – L.A. Clippers
1990’s
1999 Baron Davis, UCLA – Charlotte Hornets
1998 Raef LaFrentz, Kansas – Denver Nuggets
1997 Chauncey Billups, Colorado – Boston Celtics
1996 Shareef Abdur-Rahim, California – Vancouver Grizzlies
1995 Jerry Stackhouse, North Carolina – Philadelphia 76ers
1994 Grant Hill, Duke – Detroit Pistons
1993 Anfernee Hardaway, Memphis – Golden State Warriors
1992 Christian Laettner, Duke – Minnesota Timberwolves
1991 Billy Owens, Syracuse – Sacramento Kings
1990 Chris Jackson, Louisiana State – Denver Nuggets
Some great players, some good, and some who never reached the heights. Even at pick #3 in probably "better" rated drafts.
Thing is even that's not fair to use as a comparison as this draft is not rated as highly other than via the hype machine of NCAA hoops and Barrett is 100% about that as he played for Duke.
KP was booed, but I was far more excited about him as he was a better prospect than RJ.
I'm hopeful, but my expectations are not as high as it seems quite a decent portion of our fans appear to feel. I get it, it's the draft. Hype machine is what it's about.
But it gets tired when you have your doubts. That's me, and I'm on board with the pick. Hope he finds his way, proves those not as excited wrong, and at least becomes a valuable "asset."

I hope you're right. He's good, but he's fallen off from where he was rated a year ago otherwise he'd not be pick #3. Let's be real. I think he can be a very good player, don't get me wrong, I just have my doubts, but there's no reason to think he can't be a very good player.
A player that sometimes we get at #3? Not sure most suggest that. Of course, there's always those things that change outside of expectations, but the level of sophistication at least about use of data is far different than the past. That isn't the one variable to look at, but it's something to pay attention to, and I wonder if some who are so high on him are not really acknowledging some of the concerning trends he had in his freshman season despite the "big" numbers.

Was a Kenny Walker fan, back in the day, never forget a Knick winning the dunk contest. RJ is more skilled IMO, Has a gear that Walker didnt. Walker was a decent role player, believe RJ is on another level, Barrett should be a better rebounder, passer, scorer, defender, you name it.

Anyone at the end of the draft having issues with the cap/luxury tax? Would we take on a contract for next year to get a late #1?
A reason to have the draft after FA is that if we strike out on bigs names, and don't want 2nd and 3rd tier FAs available this year, we can take on a contract expiring after next year, knowing we won't be missing on a top tier FA.

We know what positions Barret can fit in at, at least. I'm one who has doubts about how Zion fits in with his size and lack of shooting range, at least right now. I think he will adapt, but he has issues, too.

Would we take on a contract for next year to get a late #1?A reason to have the draft after FA is that if we strike out on bigs names, and don't want 2nd and 3rd tier FAs available this year, we can take on a contract expiring after next year, knowing we won't be missing on a top tier FA.
Looks like Roberson is only next year. Ferguson is less, for 3 years, but there is a team option after 2019/20

Anyone at the end of the draft having issues with the cap/luxury tax? If we could pick up Terrance Ferguson and get rewarded with a pick - why not? He's young, talented, athletic and not overly costly. We are likely to need another year with our young guys anyway...

Not going to argue with this, but I expect OKC wants to dump someone with a more odious contract. Ferguson is only $2.5M next year, and they can decline his option the next year.
Don't know how they feel about Grant and Schroder, but they both have 2 yrs left at 9M & 15M respectively.
