Knicks · D Russell - Did we lose out? (page 1)

Should we have tried harder to steal him from the Lakers? Such a great pickup for the Nets and got him for next to nothing. He needs to cut his hair though. Makes me think he would shoot better if his hair didn't go in his face.

We didn't lose out, we didn't have cap space.

And DRussell will be available to most any team that wants to pay for him next year, and that has cap space

smackeddog @ 12/19/2018 3:36 AM
Not a fan of his really
Nalod @ 12/19/2018 6:31 AM
Lakers wanted cap space. BroPez was an expiring that was still viable player.
We had Zip.
jrodmc @ 12/19/2018 7:52 AM
BroPez was next to nothing? He had just come off a season at 20.5ppg. He was the Nyets.
Knixkik @ 12/19/2018 8:32 AM
I thought Russell would be a much better player. Closer to Harden than the streak scorer he is.
Welpee @ 12/19/2018 8:39 AM
We didn't lose out. Funny how people always seem to perceive other team's players more favorably than their own. Perhaps because people tend to judge them on the one or two times they see them play versus watching our guys every game and picking out every single wart.

He got what his talents and market would give, which was next to nothing. 1 year Bi-annual exception with the Bucks for $3.3M

Didn't lose out at all. He isn't a strong penetrator. Not an overall effecient scorer. And he is poor defensively. Hasn't been able to stay healthy his last 2 years in the league.

He isn't really built to be a strong defensive player. So he is gonna need high offensive efficiency to make up for it. His .513 TS gonna need to raise to about .600.

Mudiays TS% is at .559 mostly being dragged down by the ast/to ratio.

meloshouldgo @ 12/19/2018 1:36 PM

Ummm, guys, we're talking about at the time he was traded for the suddenly Mr. HOF D.Russell, not later. He was on an expiring $63 million at the time. Turns out he was obviously on the downside, but to say he was next to nothing is not exactly legit.

This. The Nets committed to Dinwiddie. I think they see Dinwiddie and Levert as their back court of the future.
Cartman718 @ 12/19/2018 8:17 PM
ugh...would you rather have KP? I know I would, obviously the more complete and harder to draft player
