He is backing NOLA into a corner by saying he ONLY wants to play for the LeBrons. and will not re-sign with any other team. Who is going to give up assets for someone like that? Even Isiah wouldn’t be THAT stupid. Now, what if the Lakers don’t offer a package NOLA wants? AD has to wait an entire year and a half until he can sign with the Los Angelos LeBrons.

I JUST told enyspree on facebook that I would trade the pick and filler for AD but on second thought, I would trade nothing. I wouldn’t move a muscle. The playoff run next season will be fun but if he’s not going to stay, it’s not worth giving up on getting Zion.

This is the Melo trade all over again. Let the Lakers screw themselves, I am happy he didn't include the Knicks as a destination.

I really like AD a lot. There is a place for a big man that can do everything. We just can’t be taking the gamble. He only wants to play for the LeBrons. I understand that. Good luck playing for a guy, who in a year and a half, will have THAT much more wear and tear with a previous bad groin injury.

Yes AD is far superior to Melo as a player. But we would still need to gut our assets to get him here and he already has better talent around him than us(even before we gut our team). He has won roughly 12 more games than we have - you put him here on the Knicks minus some of our better players, we would probably be right around 15 wins. Just adding KP back would be a lot more value and AD clearly wants to play for contenders.

Front court of KP AD KD would be devastating!

They are all PF. Also, are 3 super max contracts even possible on the same team?

If all 3 are drafted by the team or team get bird rights on some yes...
Dolan money will help to pay 100 million extra tax.
Atlanta already had starters composed of 5 SFs... did not work out well...

Means nothing if we have a poor backcourt AND bench.

Kornet can be our shooting guard and Robinson will guard the Point. We will be the anti-modern day NBA team. We will switch on everything, truly positionless.

Too front court heavy- trading KP makes more sense for team fit, I don’t want a repeat of melo, stat and Tyson

technomaster @ 1/30/2019 4:27 PM
I would say if we could get a handshake that he'd re-sign with the team, I wouldn't mind a KP + fillers (ie Kanter) for AD. The way I see it is that KP's RFA contract would be better than any other offer the Pelicans will get.

KP would be reunited with yet another lottery player from that draft (Okafor)...

This is too good not to reply. I think I almost pulled a muscle from laughing so hard. A shooting guard that cannot shoot and a PG that cannot run any plays. But then I tried to picture it, what would our offense look like? Mudiay drives, misses, falls down, we always get the offensive rebound and a putback. We would lead the league in offensive rebounds and get half of our points that way shooting the best % in the league by far on second chance points. On defense we would be impossible to score against in the paint forcing teams to the perimeter. We would only lose to Golden State because they would only shoot 3 pointers against us. The NBA takes notice and makes a rule restricting the total height of players combined that a team can put on the floor after we become the first team undefeated in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t trade for AD. You have a chance to field a lineup of
KP
Zion
Robinson
Knox
Frank

Or

KP
Knox
Robinson
Frank
Ja

Oh boy, rumors now say Lonzo Ball would want to be traded to a big market like NY or Chicago...

We have any number of young players + Kanter's big expiring contract to be part of trade talks. Ntilikina might thrive on a team that has Lebron. He can play his Andre Roberson/Tayshaun Prince-like defensive role alongside King James and look like a perfectly competent player. Heck, Derek Fisher looked like a competent player next to Kobe (all of those 2nd rate PGs did - Shannon Brown, Farmar, etc...)...

yeah but the problem is the pelicans few Ball as the main piece. They are going to want a lottery pick instead

In today’s NBA centers do not draw free agents. The Knicks need to be wise to this.
doomed @ 1/30/2019 10:47 PM
Some of you are out of your mind. Offering a first along with 3 decent young players? That’s garbage. You aren’t getting AD for garbage.

If you want to be serious, you’re going to have to offer NO everything. Now, maybe you can also give them the contracts you don’t want. What if I told you the Knicks traded all their good away but this time next year they are fielding a starting five that has Anthony Davis, Durant and Leonard? Ok Leonard says no and we get Kemba walker instead?

Go big or go home. If you want Anthony David bad enough you’re gonna need to blow NO out of the water and now. But, maybe there’s a way to open up two max deals in addition to the new Davis deal. If you could ensure that the Knicks could sign two more maxes after Davis? Would anyone care who we gave up? Sure it’s painful, but it could be beautiful.
