Knicks · THE UNICORN HAS LEFT US WITH ONLY A RAINBOW. (page 3)

It’s clear he isn’t about money
Melo was about money
He loved the max money and NY market as being an all starKP wanted the franchise to show him a plan
He had enoughI’m sad he asked for a trade but I’m even sadder fans defend the FO over this
Not a single other FO would have waited a year to offer him an extension
Every other FO would have been in ré-sign KP mode summer 2018KP saw a team planning on wishful free agency and saw a team that didn’t really want to develop players and a team around him.
It’s done but a winner does what KP does.
A guy in it to cash chèques and get attention stays in NY regardless how bad they are.He did demand a trade to come here, for what it's worth.
If he wasn't going to sign a contract, and did the QO your pretty much get nothing for him and he could dictate which team he would go to and they would low ball you or wait untill the end of next season. I'm sure they tried to work things out with him, but Janis wouldn't budge.

Lets try. How about a player that he gets compared to the most, Dirk. What a loser, stayed with the team that drafted him and brought them a championship after years and years of doing it the hard way in the Western Conference. Now thats someone whos example no winner should follow.
But the culture in the Dallas organization has also been about making sure the players were getting everything they needed to be successful: facilities, medical staff, respect from the organization, etc.

By Dirks third year in the league he was playing for the same coach and a system that was consistent and his supporting cast included 4 all star caliber players
Dirk
Michael Finley
Juwon Howard
Steve Nash
Please let’s not act like KP had stability in NY.
Fisher in his sometimes Triangle
Rambis in always Triangle
Horny in sometimes Triangle
Horny in no Triangle (but the best system KP ever had)
Fiz and Fiz’s system looks awful both in Memphis and here
The best player KP is playing with in THj is never going to make an all star team and isn’t even a starter on a contender
The team didn’t try to lock him up last summer
Come on guys you’re being ridiculous here.
The front office under Dolan has been a joke and been so conflicted with so much player movement.
KP didn’t turn on us, the fans.
He turned on the FO.
Unlike Melo who never had any balls to call out the FO
KP did a few times
Mills thought by being nice it would work
What KP wanted was a good team around him
He’s about to enter his prime next year. He may not have a very long careeR due to his size.
If he’s got 5 or 6 great years, you don’t want to waste them on this Knicks team.
Dude, not a single one of our young players even made the rising star game.
Not a single free agent of Durants class was coming to play with KP and crap.
Come on ... think deeper.
Compare Dirks 53 win team and stable system and ownership and environment vs what KP has been through his first three years.
MIlls as named president then 6 months later Phil came. If you don’t get what happened when Phil had full control then your not getting your facts straight.
Mills has been at the helm of this for a season and a half since Phil was shown the door.
What we don’t know is what’s up with KP. Reports that Dal won’t have his play this year. That he won’t sign an extension beyond his qualifying offer. He would not do this in NY. So blame Mills for a tidal wave of everything.
OR blame KP for being immature. Or blame Janis, or Melo for getting in KP’s ear.
The only way we know the truth is how KP plays the next few seasons and if the knicks can rebuild from here with what they got in front of them. Fans can choose to pull in the past and flame on that. I choose to accept the present year and a half of this FO and the assets we have. Thats the chess board we are dealing with.
KP dissent is a mystery to me. It’s illogical on the surface. Perhaps we can grab some cryptic meaning with some of the glimpses he chooses to divulge. This kid is either smart to get away, delusional, or hypersensitive.
I really loved this kids game. Loved his potential. Can’t ignore the business side.
At the same time Mills and Perry I would hope have some serious confidence in what they are doing.
Kp’s Health and time on the court will tell the story. Our Free agency and draft will tell another. Until then no grades or measure in my mind can be applied.

We hope better times are on the horizon but that's far from guaranteed before or after the trade. Post-trade, we have the worst talented team in the leauge.

This team truly can't tie its fucking shoelaces. How pathetic.
Franks' already got one foot out the door, and there's been enough written about the FO being split on him already.I still cannot believe they pulled the trigger this fast on a trade of this magnitude.
YOu kidding, they just handed the keys of the franchise to Frank! It’s his team now!!!

If KP only signs the QO in Dallas like he initially said maybe he is about winning. Who cares? The Knicks got a great offer from Dallas, checked in with KP and he told them he didn’t want to be a Knick. The front office then made the trade that was best for the team. If KP knew the Knicks were sending him to Dallas he might have said he wanted to be a Knick. Glad he is gone. The front office did an amazing job with that trade.
nyknickzingis wrote:It’s only a good deal for the Knicks if they get two all stars this summer.
They have so many options now with their cap space, young players and 7 first round picks in 5 years. Think Celtics or the Rockets back before they got Harden. This trade gave them a lot more options then just getting two of the Ks. They also are not committing max money to an injury prone, slight, seven foot three prima donna.
This would mean in Perry Mills era they go 3 straight years lottery.
They’re going to have to go the 76ers route, only problem is tanking rules have changed
I don’t think this plan works unless you’re able to sign two major free agents this summer

If we go to the lottery then we at least are drafting talent again. Not saying i’d be happy but at the same time we are developing talent with cap space and picks. Makes for good trades. A future uncertain. THis was how boston built its base. It would be a short term fail to not sign two, not the end of the world to sign one. That we were in the conversation for AD is a small improvement. By that we had the ability to do it.

Yeah, the bitchy little Me70; imagine a player actually demanding or forcing his way to THIS FRANCHISE and not sticking it out in Denver. Oh wait, cue the "we gutted the team for Melo bs again.
As opposed to the dear departed broken unicorn and his dysfunctional brother complaining how much they wished Melo had been more of a bitch.
