Knicks · Can we still obtain AD? (page 1)

Let's say we can land Kyrie or one of the free agents this summer and AD has not moved to the Lakers yet... Is it possible we could offer 2 first round picks (we now have 3), along with Mitch, Frank and/or DSjr for AD? Realize he would not want to come hear with the cupboard bare - but what if we landed another star player to pair him with? Actually seems like we may be in a better position then before the trade - since Pelicans had no interest in KP anyway. If possible, he would be my top choice with Durant a close second.

Why we would give up assets unless AD will commit to sign?
And why AD will try to strip out of assets the team he want to join?
He will be FA next year so we should target him as FA if he will be willing and still available.

AD wants to be a Laker. He will not sign an extension with any other team. Why would any team give up assets if this is the case?

exactly. The Knicks tried to offer them KP too but they weren’t interested

Well there seems to be some whispers about collusion with the Lakers - maybe it won't be allowed. Maybe the Pelicans simply decide not to trade him there? If he wants out he could play alongside a Kyrie, Durant or other star in a major market. We could send the Pelicans 2 first round picks and absorb his salary without having to send back lousy contracts and just low cost young guys (eg Hardaway Jr). Do think the Lakers offer is better, but maybe the Pels decide to send him anywhere but LA.
