Is there a role for the knicks to facilitate AD to LAL by taking on Lonzo ball in exchange for our acquired assets/Frank Ntilikina?
It seems the lakers are desperate to get AD before thursday - and New orleans has to be hesitant knowing Lonzo doesn't want to be there.
It would make DSJ expandable in combination with picks to trade for a 3rd superstar.
I wouldn't do it. Lonzo doesn't really excite me as prospect and, well, f**k the Lakers. Why should we help them. Are we getting a pick out of it!

Wouldnt mind seeing a backcourt of Smith jr/Ball on a trial basis anyway. Ball is a better halfcourt player, and when DSJ isnt turning the ball over, excels in transition. We would have one freaking fast team with DSJ/Ball/Knox/Trier/Robinson in the lineup. Run teams off the court, if they could play in control.

Even if all it took was Ntilikina + Hezonja + 2nd rounder?
Maybe the pelicans love the lakers offer just dont want an unhappy lonzo and are willing to swap for Ntilikina and a Pick

You guys are 100 percent right about the Dad, but if he kept mostly radio silence, Id give up a second rounder for a rental. He's been in a dysfunctional situation in LA, NY is a more stable organization, right now. Believe it or not.

dont care what it takes...do not need another headache like janis. kawhi's uncle and AD's dad don't chime as much as lavar and janis doesn't chime much but definitely works a lot under the hood to undermine mgmt as we have experienced.

You guys are 100 percent right about the Dad, but if he kept mostly radio silence, Id give up a second rounder for a rental. He's been in a dysfunctional situation in LA, NY is a more stable organization, right now. Believe it or not.
2nd rounder I could live with but the dad is gonna be a pain no matter where except Phoenix apparently

I'd rather just roll with DSjr and see what we have there. I think you need to be able to shoot in today's game unless you're built like Giannis or Simmons. I see more upside in Smith than Ball.
Ball has been terrible. Why would we trade for him? Is Frank that much lower? I’ll think no. I’ll take Ball for really cheap but that’s about it.

Getting out of LA sure helped Russell. Lots of high draft picks, being shuffled in the lineup, Lebron. You might end up being spot on about Ball, wouldnt go only by that circus.

I was a big Russell fan back in 2015. Him and Towns were the guys I watched the most that college year. I agree I dont see the same from Ball

I think this thread is less about Lonzo Ball and more about a Ntilikina hate club. Personally I don't get it but as an veteran of 25 years or more of Knicks fan sites I know that there's always an illogical contingent who are loud, persistent, and insatiable in their desire to throw shade on a player, coach, or FO figure.
Acquiring Ball makes zero sense. ZERO.
Ntilikina, at his price point and potential ceiling should be an untouchable after the Porzingis trade. If he never becomes a starter or a scorer, his combination of length, defensive ability, and character are exactly what the Knicks must be building around.
IMO, we are overloaded with PG candidates all of whom are too young to be evaluated too harshly. They have a few years to go before they grow into their mature potential. That said, yes the Knicks should take every opportunity to land better talent at every position.
Rather than lend the Lakers a hand, I think the Knicks would be wise to follow-up with Philadelphia. Fultz could be had for the taking and better yet could be had bundled with a desirable young player who isn't on Philly's trajectory, say Bolden.
So Thomas and Vonleh for Fultz and Bolden. This assuming we will lose Vonleh for nothing otherwise.

I would actually like to keep Vonleh. His skill set and attitude with a contract suitable for a backup (say 6-8 mill per year)would be a very nice asset for a championship contender.

I gave up on Gotham 2 years ago. You could argue that I should hav done the same thing to the Knicks lol Gotham, as bad as it is, is predictable. The Knicks are friggin' rollercoaster.
