Knicks · Do we become a beneficiary instead of an instigator? (page 1)

Did we do the KP deal to position ourselves for AD? AD makes a list and Celtics are Not on it.
AD wants to go now. Lakers will empty the basket.
This is a chess game and I don’t see our move for AD but did we become a beneficiary to make a deal with either NOLA or Lakers to facilitate a deal?
Sometimes there is a nice bonus to do so.

He will be a Laker. LA seem very willing to offer a kings ransom. We dont have a answer unless we offer like 5 unprotected firsts or something like that lol

Maybe NOla does not want Ball. PHX or us can facilitate to move it along and WE are beneficiary of a deal Lakers are desperate to make.
KNox for ball? Dallas picks for Ball?

Davis will be Laker. Perry and Mills have stuck with their plan to keep picks anyway.

MY point is not that we land AD, but gain to help facilitate. We never do that.

Why should we help them? Why grossly overpay?

So what we can possibly get if we will take the headache of Ball farther to NY?
Should be very significant compensation with no assets going out.
I doubt we can and willing to help them.

Exactly if we offered Knox and a first to basically help LA get Davis and get rid of a headache who hasnt lived up to expectations we would be laughed at worse than before
Nalod @ 2/5/2019 10:43 AM
Ok, not necessarily knox. My point is teams that help facilitate can often profit from it.
Maybe its Ingram. Nola wants picks. If opportunity knocks you answer the door. Maybe don't do a thing.
Small moves add up. Im only interested in Ball not his father. The kid has not gotten a fair shake with Lebron as primary ball handler. As far as Lavar, that's just something bad.
If we land KD, or Kawhi then Knox expendable? Where does Zion play?
Ball on rookie contract still. Lets just say if the price is right. Frank and the protected 2023 Dallas pick?

No. not worth the headache or the price

Not complicated

Lakers have nothing , even in quantity, that NO wants. ( They however might make a deal because AD becomes a rental for any other team)

Knicks very very deeply have nothing NO wants. The best chance to get AD was with Zinger.

In a three way deal, there is nothing the Knicks has that NO wants in an AD trade.

AD and Klutch mention the Knicks because there is no chance in hell that NY can get AD. It's a soft way to generate fake interest from another team and roll soft cover for obvious tampering.

Lakers have quite a few one year deals/expirings so Kanters large expiring doesn't help either.

A three team deal where Zinger went to NO, AD went to the Lakers and some Lakers assets went to NY could have been possible. Maybe. But too late for that now.

THERE IS NO TRADE OUT THERE WHERE THE KNICKS GET ANTHONY DAVIS. NO TRADE. NONE.

We would have to eat Solomans contract in order to get Involved. If we were in pure asset collection mode then maybe.

I disagree. In many ways, the Knicks have no choice but to trade for AD simply to keep him away from Boston. If Boston acquires AD then no amount of NY rebuilding is going to overcome that kind of juggernaut.

In many ways NY is on the clock. NO wanted no part of the Porzingis Bros circus. They're looking for 8 first rounders (more or less). Frankie and Knox certainly qualify as two. It seems to me Vonleh and Robinson qualify as ballpark first-rounders as well. Let's call that four. Add two Dallas firsts and two of our future firsts (not 2019) and NO has their quota.

We'd need to match taking on at least Hill - we could even take on another player NO wants to shed.

In exchange we'd send Kanter along with some buyout cash.

Throw in Thomas - a money saving $1M obligation next year and NO is making out like bandits in a trade I don't think any other team could match.

For NY, regardless of W/L records and assuming good health, [finally] a box office guarantee for years to come.

No way, NY doesn't put together a package that will be over-the-top.

Help them why? What if after AD they target Kyrie. Thats one less FA for us to go after. No chance in hell Durant comes if LA has AD, Lebron, and Kyrie. He will stay in GS so he could compete

Mirror Test this. If the Knicks had AD, would you be OK with the package you just suggested?

NYPD's ESU could not protect you from the fallout of making this kind of trade. The league itself would rescind the trade on the basis that there must be collusion going on. Ice T from SVU could not protect you from this.

You are offering a trade you would not take yourself if you wanted to actually keep your front office job.

Boston does not get to keep everyone and get AD. It will cost them and perhaps Horford walks.
Core would look like AD, Kyrie and Haywood. Tatum alone does not get them AD.
