It’s mercifully almost over
GustavBahler @ 2/6/2019 6:53 PM
Hope Kanter lands where he wants. Dude is stressed, has a lot to deal with in his personal life. Issues bigger than basketball, and his defensive rating.
BigDaddyG @ 2/6/2019 7:09 PM
Bout time. I wish him well. Don't hate him personally, just the bad defense, Twitter antics, selfish play, the sound of his voice.....
Allanfan20 @ 2/6/2019 7:29 PM
Hope he lands a nice role on a good team and I especially hope he can get back together with his family sooner than later. At least he has a sexy Gf even though he probably only sees her like once a month, which blows. Good luck to him. He simply had no place on the team and he didn’t understand why.

he might go play in Dallas

sad - I thought Kanter was part of the guts of this team- I know he's got a ton of flaws, but he doesn't back down and he can score in the paint.

With the game speeding up, centers like Kaner (&Jordan) don't have a role in the NBA like they used to.

Before the 3 pointer became a staple of the offense...Kanter would be a max player

KNICKSBIGCATS @ 2/6/2019 8:21 PM
Really? The only planet that Kanter would be a "max player" is PLUTO.
Good luck, and.....Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Don't necessarily agree with that. They can operate perfectly fine but the question remains at what salary and what is their role.

Capella can't shoot much more than at the rim but he is perfectly fine in Houston. Draymond Green is a piss poor 3 point shooter but is AOK on that team.

Capalla can be a PnR guy, plus defender and get a ton of dunks off passes from CP3 and Harden. Green makes up for his shooting with out of this world defense and passing (and his teammates make up for the scoring).

But you can't be markedly deficient at one end of the court and expect a big salary. Kanter was lucky to get his previous contract based solely on potential and his previous skill set (which is pretty much the same skill set he has now, maybe just a bit more refined). Kanter never diversified.

Kanter used to be perfectly capable of hitting a midrange shot (or has that capability) and he didn't polish that part of his game. Never added a 3point shot either. Instead (and I am guessing here) all he did in the offseason was work on his post up moves. That's nice but he is also not a passer so it's very very one dimensional. And he sucks on defense so that makes him very useless in the modern game.

He didn't evolve and didn't mask his deficiencies at all. He'll get a contract somewhere but not a good one for a playoff team. Big guess by me but I truly believe he and/or agent thought the path to a big contract was getting his points and rebounds and FG% waaaayyy up regardless of everything else and a new contract would appear. Nope.

His talk about being an all star is at the what crack is he smoking level.

martin @ 2/6/2019 8:27 PM
By the way, hasn't the full Garden been saying that they wanted Kater for a buyout for weeks now?

"WE WANT KAN-TER, FOR A BUY-OUT!!!"

Well said, feel the same way.

He will end up in WWA and this is a great place for him to be..
Plus he will see his girlfriend every day... and other WWA girls too..
What else the Turk need...

Can't wait! The few options we had for trading him have dried up (Kings took on Barnes contract, parker got traded to the Wiz), so we ain't shifting him via a trade.
NYKBocker @ 2/7/2019 6:37 AM
If not traded I think he goes back to OKC
NYKBocker @ 2/7/2019 6:42 AM
Sixers also possible. They need players

Someone on another board posted Dallas. I think they were joking but Dallas is buying out ZBO.

Fuck him.

When he didn't get what he wanted ( a new long term contract), he stopped playing hard. Same bullshit he pulled in Utah.

Someone should dig up all the posts last year with mouthbreathers demanding the Knicks give him a long term contract. Rebounds is one of the most overvalued stats in all of professional basketball. Not hard to get them either when you have zero responsibility to defend the rim/make defensive calls/run the defense/space the floor.

Only reason the Knicks are letting him go now is because the open roster spot is more valuable.

Seriously, fuck ANYONE who puts on that beloved Knicks jersey and doesn't play all out. Every game. Every minute. Every second. Wearing the Knicks colors should be done with honor. With dignity. With respect. So many fans are willing to accept less than that and that's just sad.

Chandler @ 2/7/2019 1:45 PM
Very mixed feelings about him. He definitely wants to be loved and played with passion. That's the good Enes

but also have feelings he had a little Melo-disease deciding he could only play the way HE wanted to play, and not necessarily sacrifice or adapt for the betterment of the team

Marc Gasol has played great defense in his career; if he can, how come Enes couldn't even play mediocre? Same too for Noah -- neither Gasol nor Noah were athletic freaks. Kanter is probably stronger than either.
