This scouting report from 2016 claims he has a lot of the same skill set as Kevin Love, albeit with less polished outside shooting. Below average athlete, though he looks a lot more solid/mature than he did in his college highlights. They projected him going as high as #4 to late lottery.

Here he's compared to Brian Scalabrine/Brian Cardinal.

My take - most of these NBA players can look good for isolated games or short stretches. I remember when we were all smitten with Cole Aldrich. He finished the 2014-2015 season with a beastly stat line of 24pt/15rbd/2ast/2blk on 11/16 shooting.

Good for Ellenson if he can break through and become a useful rotation player. The FO is really doing some innovative work picking through young players that didn't work out with their original teams.

I kind of like his game so far but you’re right, some players can just look good in short and isolated chunks.

As far as the FO goes...I think Knicks fans might feel like this is innovative work but really it’s just standard practice for rebuilding teams. We’re really just not used to being on the level with standard practice.

Need about 2 years of production to prove himself. Maybe he can be a version of Joe Ingles.

consistency is probably the most important thing. I see no reason why he can't be a rotation player though.

He needs to become a 37-40% three point shooter to stay on the court. He's not as useless in offense as Kornett cwhen his shit is off, but Kornett can still protect the rim. But I'm cool with giving him a shot.

One game, kids! We've seen it before. Of course if he thrives I'll buy his jersey.
NotInMyHouse @ 2/27/2019 1:59 PM
He sure looked good last night! Did you see some of his passes? This guy has a head on his shoulders. I look forward to seeing his next 10 or so games to see what he averages out at.
Going off of one game, he did look like a first rounder.

This is what knicks fan life has been reduced to this lost season. A 6'11" piece of bench fodder handing out 5 assists.

Every year isn't complete until some dopey white guy shows well, apparently. At least Kornet doesn't have to feel like it's him now.
And I'm white, so shut up PC police.

Nalod @ 2/27/2019 9:02 PM
Do we only compare the white players to other white players? Visa versa?

That question been asked here and everywhere for ever.... no, though it's natural. Kidd does remind me of Batum...

This was my thought too. Love, Scalabrine, Cardinal, etc. It's lazy thinking at best, (b)latently racist at worst.

Batum was a plus athlete and defender tho. I see more of low level Love, in this guy's game. Nothing to with race, just the lack of athleticism.

White American players in NBA are an absolute minority.
So they may experience same issues with stereotypes as black hockey players.
Racism is just specific case of majority treatment of minorities.
Quintessential Mob rule and is present in any democracy without strong low enforcement to protect any kind of minorities.
