Knicks · What else can Kevin Knox, DSJ, Future Picks get us? (page 1)
With Phoenix wanting a PG - would they be interested in trading out of #6 pick to get DSJ?
What type of value does kevin knox have? Can it net us another lottery pick to pick up Cam Reddish?
Can we get bradley beal for cheaper than AD with the wizards locked into 41MM on Wall and headed nowhere anytime soon?
Whats the price on an aging Kevin Love on a losing team?

First off Cam Reddish is god awful. Has anyone done research on him. Please people stop throwing out names like a pez dispenser do some damn research. Have seen Reddish’s shooting percentages. Its terrible and you want to add him to a team already devoid of shooting.
BigDaddyG wrote:Do the Wiz have a GM yet? A lot of things have to be settled over there before we can determine Beal's value. DSJs value doesn't equate to the sixth pick IMHO. He's not a great fit with the Suns current roster because of his weak outside shooting. Knox was a low lottery pick to begin with and he had a shaky rookie season. He might net a low first-rounder? Not sure on that. Kevin Love? Not sure, but he makes a lot. We'd still have many of the same roster issues we'd have if we traded for AD.
Kevin love makes a ton but if we strike out on AD and need a third star i think he could be had for cheap as his value has probably never been lower.

I see what you're saying. My point is we'd still have to move out a bunch of our young guys to make the salaries match.

His numbers were bad but I think you are the one who hasn't done enough research

No way to trading Knox to trade up for Reddish. Knox probably goes 4th overall in this draft.
As far as what our additional assets can get us? Depending on the Wiz front office changes, Beal is probably the best possibility out there. Had Portland got bounced in the 1st round again, McCollum would have been an option too, but obviously not anymore. Conley will always be an option, depending on how you value him. There's always new options that will come up.

I haven’t done research, he is on team with possibly two top 3 picks he should be shooting lights out with the open looks he had but didn’t. But hey researchers may differ and come with their viewpoints. Make excuses for what they hope could be instead of what is.

Providing Kyrie wants to be an knick, why trade for 32 year Conley when 27 year old Kyrie come for free? Two years on his contract I value him only if Memphis dumps him. Not because I don’t think he has game, but our timeline is not consistent.

Yeah we wouldn't trade for Conley. Just listing the types of good players who will be available.

IMO AD is the only player worth giving up two former lottery picks. Trading DSJR for a shot at a Cam Reddish, Garland, Culver or White is risky. You are trading a player that has done quite well in his first 2 years of NBA basketball for question marks that you have NO idea how they will translate to NBA basketball.
Same for Knox. Fans are so quick to give up on players that did not instantly become MJ for another chance at rolling the dice for a long shot. Just don't think FO's are that short sighted or will be. Knox did quite well as a 19 year old rookie. There was a time that rookies who played in the NCAA for 4 YEARS were expected to ride the bench for a year or two before having any expectations for them to contribute.
Trading for Beal who is making over $22M and has shown to be just a high volume shooter with limited success in spite of being on some ok teams seems like a bit of a reach. Said it on another thread that you can get a similar player for a lot less. We also have a couple of young guys (Trier, Dotson) that can be molded to fill that need in a smaller way.
NO on Kevin Love. Would be another one of those expensive FA's that you are paying for what they WERE instead on what they CAN be for you.
Dont think we should do anything drastic with our young assets unless we are ONE move away for contending for a chip or if we have a shot at a generational player (AD) If not, stay pat with the rebuild. Sign some good value FA's to short deals and see which young pieces step up and show some progression. I like that we can get a solid pick at third (RJ) and would not mind seeing Frank, DSJR, Knox for another year.

sometimes the pieces don't fit, just ask Melo and Amar'e

Although I agree that Reddish is a riskier pick and numbers make it hard to validate a top 10 pick, most agree that his athletic ability, size, speed and high rating coming out of high school still carry a lot of weight and should absolutely make him a top 10 pick. Think he will be. Fact is, there have been many players coming out of at top school that have gone on to excel in the NBA in spite of not being good SYSTEM fits or having to take on lesser roles, due to playing with higher profile or older players, in college. Think a really important thing to consider is that Reddish was a PG in HS and had the ball in his hands 90% of the time. Hard to go from that to a third option and catch and shoot player. Specially if you are expected to adapt in just one year.
Bottom line is that the draft takes much more into account than just an 18 year olds shooting percentage.

When discussing trading some of these guys, one thing for people to take into account is that both Dennis Smith and Kevin Knox would likely go 4th in this draft.

More to the point, why not keep the young guards, trade for Conley as a fixed cost and roll with that? Conley gives the kids two or three years to mature.

What do you trade to get Conley? That matters.
