This is definitely putting a damper on my dream of watching RJ ply his trade in MSG. Would Memphis draft him after he refused to workout for them?

Jmpasq @ 6/1/2019 6:24 PM
The only upside is Morant my have more trade value. I would rather have Barrett. The sub is down playing the guy big time because he isn't Frank Ntkilkana.

I agree. I would much rather have Barrett. The dominant teams in the league now all have excellent wing players. RJ projects to be that. Also, I still would love to see what a healthy DSJ looks like with a training camp under his belt.
Knixkik @ 6/1/2019 10:04 PM
I would rather have Barrett too. The most valuable player in the league today is a star playmaking wing.
GustavBahler @ 6/1/2019 10:29 PM
Hoping the Perry/Mills go for BPA, and figure the rest out later.

I'm not as high as him as some others. But I wouldn't mind drafting. It just makes harder to care when the team with the second overall pick comes out and says he's their man.

Much rather Morant. Better prospect and a fantastic passer. We were the worst passing team in the league and I thin

Except RJ doesn't pass and can't shoot!!!

RJ is the only teenager ever to average 4+ asts to go along with 22 and 7. He averaged over 5 asts while Zion was out. I don’t get that narrative that is thrown around to be honest. I watched plenty of duke games this year and I saw a good passer despite no shooters around him. Later in the year Barrett became their prime facilitator for a reason. They essentially moved Jones off the ball for big stretches and let Barrett initiate the offense. The ball stuck to his hands a lot but it was as much a product of a poorly constructed team as anything.

Not sure where you are getting the doesn’t pass vision from. He’s a very willing passer.

Yeah it’s 100% incorrect. It’s like saying harden isn’t a willing passer because he takes so many shots.

Vmart @ 6/2/2019 10:14 AM
There is no way Morant would go for surgery before the draft unless he got okay from the Grizzlies.

He’s not with the Grizzlies yet. He can do what he wants. He’ll still go top 3.

Will be very psyched if we dont trade the pick. Either player would be a win in my book. No sure thing, but not so much risk to pass on either of them.

We dont know when the Grizz found out that Morant might need surgery. How much of a heads up they got might affect their decision. When did Morant know, and when did the Grizz find out?

Or prefers NY. These agents are slick and understand how to play chess while others are playing checkers. If Morants prefers NY over Memphis, then this is a perfect story to leak.

I don't get the impression Morant is particularly enthusiastic about the Knicks- the two times I've seen him asked about it he hesitates and says it would be good "I guess"

Nalod @ 6/3/2019 7:34 AM
I thought Morant has never been to NYC or just got there recently.
I think logic dictates that he and his agent have discussed his knee and have his MRI for teams to look and concur about what’s going on and why he is having it done. He is a top three pick so his position is settled.
Grizz don’t have any rights other than request information and Morant his no obligation to do so. Its in his best interests to be upfront if there is no problems other than what was stated.
Vmart @ 6/3/2019 8:52 PM
Every pick slot gets paid differently. So the reason Morant opted for surgery now is Memphis has given him the guarantee.

In this era, i've become accustomed to players scraping every penny they can off the table. This formula sounds about right to me.

you leave money on the table at work? What is wrong with getting paid what you can get paid? There is a drop from one pic to the next. These numbers are 2 years old but you get the idea:
Pick	First Year	Second Year	Third Year(to)	Total of first 3
1 $5,855,200 $6,949,900 $8,121,000 $20,926,100
2 $5,238,800 $6,218,300 $7,266,100 $18,723,200
3 $4,704,500 $5,584,000 $6,525,000 $16,813,500
4 $4,241,700 $5,034,600 $5,882,900 $15,159,200
5 $3,841,000 $4,559,100 $5,327,300 $13,727,400
6 $3,488,600 $4,140,900 $4,838,700 $12,468,200
7 $3,184,700 $3,780,100 $4,417,000 $11,381,800
8 $2,917,600 $3,463,100 $4,046,500 $10,427,200
9 $2,681,900 $3,183,300 $3,719,700 $9,584,900
10 $2,547,700 $3,024,100 $3,533,500 $9,105,300

Exactly, he avg twice as many assist as frank (who only passes) and never shoots
