Knicks · Love AD but wait a year for him.. (page 2)

do you think Pelicans will let AD go into free agency or trade him before that?
It seems like there are 3 or 4 trade options for AD. The Lakers, which NOLA might have no interest in doing business with. The Celtics, the Knicks and maybe the Nets and Clippers. If none of those teams are willing to make big trades for AD, knowing he’s headed into free agency, NOLA might have no Other choice.
I dont think thats the way life works. AD has already told NOLA that he wants to go.... letting him walk for nothing is not going to happen.
I understand that. What I am trying to say is that it’s possible that maybe NO teams are willing to trade for him considering the facts that he’s a FA next Summer AND he might not re-sign with them. Why should a team give up so much knowing they have that type of leverage? NOLA is probably screwed.
The pelicans should look at the Knicks as Plan A.

That’s what I am scared of.

You really think KD would sign with us without another max player coming with him? I don't and i'm not sure how anyone doesn't know by now that Kawhi is going to LA whether that be the Clips or Lakers and the only thing that could change that is Toronto winning it all and him deciding to stay and he might even stay without winning it all but he's not coming to New York......Unfortunately.
I believe KD is not like Lebron in that he needs to have a star come with him. KD would be the sole superstar here surrounded by a group of promising youngsters. If KD helps our team develop and win he would be revered beyond any other scenario.
Knicks have always bid against themselves which is sickening. We should hold firm to the offer I mentioned previously. If there are some tweaks to make a deal happen; sure but definitely do not give up Mitch and try not to give up Knox (what better mentor to have than KD).
-76ers got butler for: Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick (NO 1st rounder)
-Twolves got Butler and the 16th pick for: Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the seventh pick (again no outright first round pick)
-Celtics got Kyrie for: broken down IT, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and Boston’s 2018 first-round pick (8th)
-OKC got Paul George for: Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis (at the time neither were considered great players)- again, no first rounders
-Rockets got Harden for: Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb, two first-round picks and a second-round pick
-craptors land Kawhi and green for: DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick (29th)
All this talk of us sending Mitch, the 3rd pick, the 2 Dallas first rounders, Knox, DSJ, and Frank is ridiculous, the lakers have ridiculously driven up the price

Good point. Its going to be interesting what the final tally will be. That AD has Boston, Lakers, and Knicks on his list and all are capable at one time is quite a feet itself!
Formula is a starter, a prospect and a pick. We don't have that solid starter to offer. Mitch is off the table unless they value him high as a cornerstone. They don't bet both Knox or our 3. Nope.
Our yoot is a bit too youthier for trade fodder.
I see Boston as having to resign Kyrie to make it worth while. Not sure about the rest. Kuzma, ball, the 4th is pretty good haul. Ingrham off the table due to clots? Read his is not the same as Bosh situation and he should recover.

The one "big man" on that list is Paul George. Look what Indy got in return. The Pelicans are going to look to murder someones' roster, especially if they refuse to deal with the Lakers and they offer EVERYTHING for AD. They can easily use that as leverage.

Indy got lucky- at the time of the trade the two players they got were simply average, and they got no picks. Also big men don't have the extra value you think they do, these days

Except AD is a superstar and top 5 player who is a legit big. We would have to give up everything for him, especially if the Lakers are offering everything.

so let them. No team HAS to put themselves in a Melo situation

It wouldn't be a melo situation because they have the ability to pair him up with a legit 2nd star that actually compliment each other.
The melo/amare thing never made any real sense..especially FOR a MDA system or the triangle

The level of talent we would have to give up for AD, would eclipse what we gave up for Melo. Thats a big reason why I dont like the idea of trading for AD. Not opposed to big trades that net a star. Depends on the offer. Worked for KG and Boston, Hard to find deals like that though, which is why we should pass. Agree we should let LA give away the store.

I agree. I am trying to say that NOLA will try to use the Lakers offer as leverage if it’s true they refuse to deal with them.

I'd prescribe that Indy did their homework. Olidipo trended better every year. Good scouting and an opportunity creates good luck.
Bad luck is when the black cat crosses your path. It happens. Injury, a night club mishap, Isiah/Dolan.....a lot of things.
If we get AD while keeping Mitchell & Knox it would be a home run; and not an unreasonable expectation with all the picks we can give pelicans along with DSJR and taking back a bad contract.
