He's a great option no one really talks about if we miss out on Kyrie and Kemba. If we land KD, Conley is a great fit alongside, and we could trade for him using draft picks and our lesser assets like Frank and Dotson, while still keeping Barrett, Mitch, and Knox. He probably has a couple of all-star caliber years left in him and is one of the more underrated players of this decade. He would thrive in a secondary role while providing defense, shooting, and leadership, and allowing KD and Barrett to do a lot of the playmaking.
Also he has 2 years left on a massive deal so we can create cap space again before Barrett, Mitch, and Knox would be due for extensions. It's an easy way to compete now while keeping long-term options open and also build the foundation for the future around the 3 young guys.
I love Conley and think he's one of the best all around PG's in the league but the obvious hold up with him is his injury history is very long and his contract is pretty big. I would still have no problem trading for him if the price is right and we get KD and another max guy to bring in with him in free agency. I would love to get KD and Kawhi or KD and J.Butler and then trade for Conley to play with either combo.

The only issue is if we got 2 max FAs we wouldn't have the salary cap to deal for Conley without trading all of our young guys which obviously won't happen. Getting Conley would strictly be a backup plan to not landing 2 max guys (or AD). If we signed KD and struck out on the other top guys, as well as AD, you can deal pieces like Frank, Dotson, Smith for Conley and probably open an additional 10-12 mil in cap space for another starting caliber player in the 3rd tier of free agents such as Trevor Ariza. Then use the mini MLE to bring back Vonleh or another big.
If that's what it takes to get Durant and no Kyrie or Kemba then Kahnlee trade in some fashion is good. Im not sure what his value is. I'd think DSjr and the lower of Dallas pick would be low, but im not that generous to take is deal at his age.

My guess is their asking price is at least one good young player and a good draft pick. The unprotected Dallas pick and Frank/Dotson combo might be the minimum ask.
OMFG no... Mike Conley is who you get when you are a piece short. i would rather keep the young assets and hope they grow into something that trade for Conley. How'd a team built around Conley work for Memphis?

Actually it was pretty good for a while. Gasol, Tony Allen, Zbo..........Good run under Joerger.
