The GODS have spoken after Zion was benched after halftime for a minor injury.

Wow, I thought it looked that positionless basketball we played all last season.

Maybe they need to start assigning guys positions, again.

What...you mean like a functional NBA team? Naw, dysfunction is what makes us stand apart.

TLover @ 7/6/2019 1:33 AM
Our coaching is atrocious.. all we were doing was chucking up shots.. fuck’n disgraceful
Gudris @ 7/6/2019 1:46 AM
RJ is a bust, Knicks are screwed for years to come, beg KP to come back :)

Does no fan know how to just chill and enjoy summer league- it doesn't f***ing matter, sheesh.
GustavBahler @ 7/6/2019 7:22 AM
Barrett is called the "Maple Mamba" We'll see about that. Kobe was jacking up shots as a rook. Just watch him in his first playoffs. More concerned about Barrett getting a step faster than his FG pct. Dont believe he was ready for the pace.
fitzfarm @ 7/6/2019 7:43 AM
Man Fred Jackson lol never thought he’d explode for 30 !

Barrett might of had some jitters but if he keeps chucking we need to get this kid a shooting coach.

I love zo but man there were about 10 times he drove into double teams instead of passing...... coach get on that that’s a chemistry killer being a ball hog never gets the team going.

Mitch still has work to do, Knox needs to focus and take it to the hoop more then just settle for contested or long 3’s...

Lot of me me me ball ... that earthquake man, the gods saw enough get on the practice court young fellas

We know it doesn’t matter, but at least a try on coaching would’ve been nice. Our roster is full of players that will be part of your NBA team. Trying to get them to follow some set plays where they actually have to pass a few times and move around would be nice, no matter if the shot is made or the game is won.

Every rookie says the thing that surprises them the most is the speed of the game. Hopefully he used all SL to get used to it.

Exactly, lots of me me me ball and no passing. It’s the first game of SL and they have just had a few practices, but I would’ve hoped coaching would have a few plays set so the youngsters start practicing that.

Yep +1

Up by 20 because they made some shots. NO D, no TEAM. Allen was trying.

Trier is very talented.

Mitch looked the same.

RJ - well - not a great first time out.

StarksEwing1 @ 7/6/2019 8:37 AM
Not worried about Barrett. I think he just got gassed since they were playing him a lot. First game jitters and getting used to NBA pace. I really liked his drives to the hoop in the first half. His 3 pointers were short, but hopefully that just getting used to the distance of a NBA three. Mitch looked good. Knox was hitting his shots but just has to picks his spots a little Better.

Know that well, was speaking about Barrett's conditioning, not his reaction time.

Biggest take away is how Barrett was strong side dominant and had little lift at end of a drive. Think his vision and shot were off but should improve. Did seem overwhelmed by the moment. Hopefully he gets better at that as he is playing in the mecca of expectation. Did show ability to navigate to the basket. Wanted him as the number 3 pick but he had an off game and did not play up to it last night. I'm sure/hoping he Will show more in next few games amd throughout the year..

Also, really like Knox but he showed no progress in developing a drive, post up or mid range pull up game. Defense was lack luster and did not look physically stronger. Came out hitting threes and with his game face on. That was erased when Zion manhandled him end of 1st.

Mitch looked skinnier than last year. Love his motor but scared me falling all over the place. Would of been nice to see him pop instead of dive and try a 10 footer. Teams know he always cuts for a dunk off a pick and are taking that away.

Trier was Trier. Instant points but not setting up others. Would like to see him play the point in SL and have the coaches make him create for others. May help him understand amd enjoy the passing game.

Iggy looked scrappy on offense but slower on D than I would have hoped.

Of course this is all way too early and mostly a comment on things I was looking for as a sign of a continuation of development for the young kids. Hard to judge Barrett and Iggy too harshly as they were playing with so many new faces, pressure of first NBA action and NO coaching. However, It would have been nice to see our second year guys work better collectively. As they did not have the same excuses.

I think I commented during the game about Mitch...

Did he work on a few shots from the post in the off season?
If not, why?
If yes, why didn't we see any?

We know that he isn't going to be a 3Pt shooting center. Can he have enough confidence & touch to shoot from midrange? If not of these is happening, he needs a few shots he can count on when he's in the post. My suggestion would be a jump hook with either hand, and using the glass on short jumpers, which requires less touch.

What else would he have worked on in the off season besides his conditioning and shooting?

Guessing Barrett spent a lot of time in the weight room (not a bad thing) and not enough time running, suicides, stuff like that. Knox is a big lanky guy. Id be worried too about taking it to the rim with so many rooks. There were more than a few times players were hit off balance.

When we have a PG who is more of a threat to score, should open the floor more. Was impressed with the 3s right off the bat. Played some good D on Zion as well. Would give Knox time to start driving. Showed some nice moves to close last season.

Trier passed a little more towards the end, but they were more like bailout passes. If he said to himself once in a while "got my looks, time to get my teammates involved" Zo would be a dangerous player, because it would be harder to game plan for him.

I liked how Iggy, drove to the rim if he saw daylight, does it with less dribbling thsn Trier.

That block on Zion and dunk, after the Zion strip of Knox, was some world class representing for the Knicks. Ive mentioned how Mitch is almost martial arts like. The way he got Zion was right out of the movies, lol.

Believe the addition of Smith jr and Payton will grease the wheels.
