At a bar in central London watching USA playing France with my GF. Spike is here to watch the Yankees tomorrow.
Had to go over and tell him how much I adore him. Not because he's a generation-changing black public figure or an incredible award-winning director but because he's a Knick fan and I adore him for it.
Got a smile, a hand-shake and polite refusal to take a pic and an extra handshake when I told him my GF was a Yankee fan. Perfectly lovely, polite and enjoyable heart pumping meet haha.
One of those pointless stories that I will always remember!!

Refusal to take a pic? Can anyone please try to explain why would a celebrity refuse to take a pic with a fan other than being a total dickhead? I don't know him and I am just curious , perhaps I am missing something and if anyone could please fill me in I would really appreciate it

Yeah I get you but at the same time, he was there with what looked like family/super close friends and he was very polite saying "no I can't do pictures right now" and my feeling is he probably wanted to stay off social media and that was the reason. And who am I to judge when he wants to have a pic with me right? I was just happy to shake his hand tbh.

Well we all have our reasons, me not being a celebrity makes it difficult to understand his position. I should not jump to conclusions because assumptions are usually wrong. Even if one cannot respect a person one has to respect the persons right to be who they are.
