Makes up for drafting a bust of a player in RJ. Not impressed at all so far.

So after 2 Summer League Games you proclaim him a Bust? Ok.......
TheGame@ 7/7/2019 11:41 PM
I am actually encouraged by RJ's play. While he still played terrible, he looked better than last game. It is going to take some time but I think he is going to be a real good player for us. It just is going to probably take 2-3 years for him to get there.
Iggy looks good but it is summer league. He definitely looks better than ellenson.

Agreed. Hasnt played much, has done a lot of appearances as a top 3 pick. He will be fine. He has struggled shooting BUT has done a great job getting to the hoop. Those shots will fall soon I think its a mixture of pressing and some rust. Iggy has far less pressure and I think thats helped. Both kids are gonna be good players I feel. Of course in the social media even if you are only 19 if you have a bad game or 2 in SL you are a bust lol
Chandler@ 7/7/2019 11:50 PM
I think there is fair concern about RJ. He doesn’t have that “it” athleticism and he can’t shoot
But he really just turned 19. Let that sink in. For the most part plays w good body control. Compare that to kk last year who was consistently bumped off of his drives. And he rebounds which is great for a sg
Way too early for me to get too concerned yet
And yes to Iggy

People need to be patient with RJB. It's summer league, folks. He's only 19!! He needs to be coached up and schooled by some of our new veterans. It'll take time. Very impressed by Iggy. High motor, creates his own shots, nose for the ball, steady, fearless. Reminds me a bit of Hondo #17.

They're rolling out the same ball. Maybe your shoot is of, but i'm seeing slipshod defense and a lot of turnovers. Hopefully he can play thru these quirks. He needs to go into "Mamba" mode. Or at least exhibit some Mamba mentality.

The problem with RJ is he was able to bully his way to the rim in college. But in theNBA, when bully ball doesnt work, what's plan B. Look at Knox last year...and Iggy this year. Both are threats from 3 pt range and attack the rim going left or right. Plus iggy has a chip on his shoulder with less pressure as a second rounder. July 6, he signed a multi yr deal, so he was also relaxed..but hes very confident, just like RJ. Until RJ gets that jumper going...and attack the rim going right, he will have more games like this.
I'm still a fan of RJ....But I'm always a fan of the underdogs like Iggy and Trier. I love Iggys confidence b4 he played 1 minute of summer league. That's half the battle in basketball at any level. That's also why I'm not worried about RJ. Hes confident....dad was a pro....nash is his Godfather.....I think he should play a point forward type game....and not press so hard to score....he sees the floor and makes good passes after he attacks the paint. He needs to let the game come to him.
BUT...it looks like Iggy might have a better rookie career than RJ, If iggy gets the playing time.

I agree but it has been two bad summer league games. Iggy has been awesome. Similar to Mitch last year you know the Knicks drafted another good one.

Tell me, do you watch other summer league games and declare players busts after 1 or 2 games, or is that special insight you leave for the Knicks? Is DeAndre Hunter a bust because he just had a poor first game?
Ira@ 7/8/2019 5:45 AM
Perry/Mills seem to do much better drafting in the 2nd round than in the 1st. Iggy's game looks a little like Doncic.

If the draft was held today is RJ a lotto pick?
dwiley20@ 7/8/2019 7:31 AM
All I want to see from RJ is can he create of the dribble for himself and others. .at the 2spot that's more important...I liked when he posted up a couple times, he was tough to guard
Ira@ 7/8/2019 8:10 AM
Isn't this a thread about Iggy?
11-19 from the field 3-8 from 3 5-6 ft 8 boards

anrst wrote:If the draft was held today is RJ a lotto pick?
Yes....for the same reasons he was selected 3rd. If he played for a different school, and put up those numbers, without zion over shadowing him, he might have went #1.
2 games of summer league dosnt erase his entire college career and stats at duke. Smh
franco12@ 7/8/2019 8:34 AM
if we're going to slam RJ for 2 games, how about Zion who isn't even playing now, and looked out of shape in that first game?
I think the challenge these top picks had was after college, guaranteed a top spot like they were, they took it easy - that's ok because now they need to step up in a major way, and there won't be much time for them to relax until their out of the league.

Exactly. We all know there are things that he needs to work on but its unfair to take these two games and say "he isnt a lotto pick". I mean we have seen many top picks struggle in SL and ended up just fine.

Just saying, Barrett was the only player out there getting doubled until they trapped with like 1 min on the clock. Kid missed some bad shots, forced it a bit. But had some real presence and collapsed the floor with his left handed ness. I’m saying wait for the “click”, the moment where he sees what is going on out there and it just clicks. If he puts the work in he can be great.
