The one thing they didn't touch on but I will look forward to is that passion and attitude he is gonna bring on the court. Randle, Morris, Portis and Gibson all bring those qualities. Robinson seems to be developing the knack for getting under players skin. As long as Portis can stay away from punch teammates in the face. Practice should be extremely competitive.

you absolutely put Payton in there as well (although not a front court guy) as a guy who competes like that and gets after it
Thanks. Like that the Knicks can push the tempo with Randle in the lineup. Like that he gets to the line a lot. As well as his passing, ability to find teammates. Looking forward to seeing how well Randle, Barrett, Knox, keep the ball moving.

While Randle is offensivly productive he is a crap defender. He is basically a zero sum player. Most of the guys we signed are negative sum players. Bobby Portis is actually horrendus. Taj Gibson is the best player we signed offense/defense

Don't believe this is the correct evaluation of Randle being zero sum. He shoots a 60% TS while adding 3s and point forward capabilities. To be that efficient with those combination of skills is pretty strong. He was #16 in the NBA in points per 48mins.
He rates higher analytically than Deangelo Russell did last season and he was an All Star. Difference is Pelicans roster construction. Pelicans were below average overall as a team dropping his on court +/-. But they were a worse team when Randle was off the court. He produces more offensively, efficiently in a variety then he gives up to be labeled zero sum. Now if he got #s inefficiently but through volume. Or he didn't provide 3s and ast then you would have a case.
Pelicans only got a total average of 5.5 threes made from their back court consisting of 5 players getting 19 mins or more throughout the season. That's terrible given the construction of the roster with AD & Randle. Denver in comparison with Jokic and Milsap averaged a total of 8.3 threes per game from their back court of 5 players getting 20mins or more throughout the season.
Raptors put up the same 8.3 made threes from their back court of 5 players getting 18 mins or more as Denver.
The difference in spacing makes that huge difference for team success. With that said I don't know if as constructed our back court will produce more than the 5.5 threes made per game that Pelicans did either.
Portis is a terrible defender. But he is still a quality rotational floor spacer who also produces high rate of points and rebounds per min. He is a strong 6th man type on a winning team for instant offense, PPM, floor spacing, rebounds.
