Knicks · Roster is set at 15. Good Bye Lance (page 1)

Great guy but glad the Knicks are signing vets that can play. Does Lance get a camp invite, is he asked to coach, does he join the msg broadcast team?

Depends on whether Lance is healthy and wants to continue playing. I would think he still wants to play.

Nalod @ 7/16/2019 12:29 PM
Herb Williams never made it to the booth did he?
MS @ 7/16/2019 12:34 PM
Surprised teams like the Lakers, Clippers and Rockets wouldn’t have taken a stronger look. He can give you good regular season minutes and some added defense.

Was a food team guy for us.

jrodmc @ 7/16/2019 12:58 PM
Kornet's gone. Lance is gone. Wonder where Frank ends up?

Good Bye to the Error of Phil.

smackeddog @ 7/16/2019 1:17 PM
Not so fast, we might still trade Frank and end up with a roster spot.

Didn't Herb go straight to assistant coach?

Frank is now the LONGEST TENURED Knick. Then Dot.

I think Frank is a goner too. If they can't move him then it's Allen. I know Summer League is a mess, but Allen didn't look like a 26-year-old pro going against up and comers. He looked like every other college-aged newb who suited up. Hope he steps it up in training camp.

goodbye lance. we hardly knew ya (to have much talent).

He had that one great stretch like Novak or Copeland. He shot the 3 great, played D, was vocal... looked good until he was immediately broken down and then just stunk. Watching his post moves reminded me of how the crowd used to react when Ewing dribbled

I actually feel pretty good about Frank's prospects. Folks are underappreciating that both Coach Miller and Fiz personally went to watch Frank Train this summer. If they both gave the Thumbs Down then Frank is likely gone already. I believe he's here because they were sufficiently impressed with his progress. Allen is no longer needed on the NBA roster IMO.
I like Allen but I think we'll be fine without him. Dude is also going to turn 27 next season and I think they can focus more on younger players with more upside.
Marv @ 7/16/2019 8:56 PM
^ feel the same re frank. he’s always looked like a dude who was gonns take a few years to grow into his potential.
Nalod @ 7/17/2019 6:57 AM
Takes time to erase that triangle smirk off his face!

Trading Frank will come back to haunt the Knicks.

Maybe they hire him to do the Butch Beard "Chief Rehabilitator" role for the one vet (Bullock) we signed that can't play.

THis team is 15 deep. I don't know when I have ever seen that on an NBA team before.

PG's - Payton, DSjr, Ntilikina (allen)
SG's - Barret, Dotson, Ellington, Trier
SF's - KNox, Morris, Bullock, BRadzeikis
PF's - Randle, (morris), (knox), Gibson,
C's - Robinson, Portis, (Gibson) (wooten)

It will be interesting how Fizdale handles the time and competitions. It may not matter who starts. Guys will sit and be rested and be HUNGRY. Every night someone will have something to prove. Every night someone will be looking over their shoulder Every practice the other guy is going to make you work to get better. Te cream will rise to the top.

Everyone can play and there are players with diverse skills that can be mixed and matched to fit almost all situations. It really could be an exciting way to structure a team.

Many teams talk about 2nd units. This team could have a 3rd unit. The number of combinations that could play is almost limitless! All D, All O, All young, all vets, All 3 pt shooters, all hustle.

Glass half full approach

They would do well to adopt the Celtics mantra of, "it's not important who starts; it's who finishes; and that's determined by how you're playing on the court" Hopefully we'll have constant energy for 48 minutes (and I would like to see some semblance of organized team play and an occasional pass, but I'll temper my expectations)
