to help what’s happening in the Amazon? This is tragic and a nightmare and what’s worse is that their president (who is proving to be just as awful as Trump) doesn’t want to accept foreign aid.
A lot of people deserve to be punished severely for this.
Donations are nothing more than trying to treat the symptom instead of the disease. The disease is Bolsanero (purposely misspelled), his sponsors in this country and across the pond. Money won't do anything to address that underlying issue; they control it. A donation would be a noble gesture on your part but those donations might not even make it beyond covering salaries for overpaid exec's.

I agree. Hence I said he’s on the same level as Trump. I’m not even sure if I should make a donation.
I just want the fires to end.
NPR did a segment yesterday that yes the fires are bad but its not the worst to happen and its an annual occurance that there are fires. Its not a pro trump piece but brings some objectivity. Bonsanara is a right populist child and they are proactively stripping the amazon for profit but they are a sovereign entity and have a bone to pick with European colonialist actions of the past.
He is acting like a child. Its about looking good to the Brazilian people and staying in power. Trumps kind of guy!!

The problem is that the fires are up 80% from last year. Yes, there are fires every year but the problem is that the fires became wide spread from farmers trying to clear out lands. Bonsanara, or however you spell it, won’t accept donations unless France apologizes?
It’s ugly. And it’s not just the reduction of oxygen. I understand that holds close to zero percent importance to people and I can surrender to that. It doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s sad though.

You and I both, brother. But this isn't about any one or two men as fascist as they may be. This is about a system that these men are playing a role in. Get rid of them and others will take their place and perpetuate this agenda.

NPR, unfortunately, is sponsored by big money donations that bias' its content. I don't think any of these mainstream media sources can be trusted as honest actors. I'm not sure how you can downplay the fucking lungs of the planet burning.
And the "colonist" bullshit is nothing but a ploy. The racial dynamics involved are no different than those here, Latin America, or anywhere else in the world for that matter. Individuals of predominately European ancestry almost exclusively occupy positions of power and oppress the majority in order to continue doing so. Brazil is no different; President Dickhead over there IS the colonist.

If this doesn't matter to people, we deserve our fate. This isn't something to scoff at. And that's with me also not bringing up the ethnic cleansing that is taking place over there.
