I figured most fans WANT RJ and DSJ, but I highly doubt that happens.
In fact I am rather dubious either will be the starter when the season begins.
There's more pressure to win games and experience with youngins off the bench makes more sense to me.

+1
I, for one, believe rookies need to earn the starting job. I think it's bad for their mental development to have it handed to them. Then when they hit the rookie wall, they take it too hard when they get sent to the bench. Better to avoid the whole thing and bring them along slowly and there are no bruised egos, and they can feel they've actually earned something if and when it actually happens.

I think DSJ starts. He is supposed to have had a great summer and he was s one of their young guys that has star potential.
Allanfan20 wrote:You forgot Trier and Frank. I think that’s actually possible. What if DSJ comes to camp and his shot still sucks and is playing way too stupid? People are just assuming he’s going to take a giant leap forward. Assumptions are the mother of all f’ ups remember.Frank is the one guy who played really serious competitive ball this Summer. He showed improvement. We also basically know what we are getting from Trier. Heck, we know what we are getting from Elfrid. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Frank starts with Elfrid backing up if Dennis $hits the bed.
I got the impression last year that Trier didn't like playing with Frank. It seemed like he would avoid passing to Frank due to Frank's passiveness.

I suppose that's possible in the short-term but I don't foresee how he and Barrett co-exist in the future. Both project to be high usage players and I'm skeptical that either will be especially valuable/useful off the ball. So if I had to pick one to build with, I'd choose Barrett because of his pedigree and due to the scarcity of talent at his position. I'm not especially high on him but Barrett is the best prospect we have at the moment and we need to see how good he can be. As a result, I'm looking to start players that can give him room to operate AND offer other intangibles on the floor. I'd start Barrett at the 3 and surround him with the following:
G: Frank Ntilikina
G: Damyean Dotson
F: RJ Barrett
F: Kevin Knox
C: Mitchell Robinson
Rotation: Alonzo Trier (G), Wayne Ellington (G/F), Marcus Morris (F), Julius Randle (F/C)
....and since that lineup would likely cause quite a bit of fallout, I'd put DSJr, Marcus Morris, Julius Randle and Bobby Portis on the trade market as soon as December 15th rolls around.
DSJ - Payton
Frank - Trier
Knox - Barret
Randle - Morris
Robinson - Portis - Gibson
