Because after 1985 we've sucked at it. Drastically sucked. So it's not been a good route for my franchise.

It was a bad draft, that happens sometimes. 2018 was superb

Yep, a quarter into their first season; that's when you grade a draft.
Some of you -- I just wonder how you function in the real world....

if you're a losing team it is the only route
We are in a salary cap league. Salary cap favors winning teams (and those with no state/city taxes)
your only values are drafting/rookie deals and getting superstars who are actually worth more than the astronomical amounts of max and super max (only a handful of those guys and they're not inclined to join a super bad team for obvious reasons)

Here is Draymond's chance to prove he is as good as some thought. Unless he decides to bow out with some minor injury.
Was expecting Draymonds MVP type defense to carry on the winning tradition.

Weve sucked at everything including FA signings and trades. Draft shouldn't be isolated.

Guess that depends on how you define sucking. Sprewell trade? 1999 Finals. Think we were getting there with Terry Cummings?
Melo, we traded flotsam for 3 immediate trips to the playoffs after 6 years of futility.
FA signings Houston, Starks, Mase?
After Ewing, name the draft that worked out as well as any of that?

Weve utilized the draft the least out of all those avenues. Based off volume, sure there is higher probability of finding moves that worked out in terms of trades for vets and FA signings since the Knicks have utilize this the most. But at the same time with that same volume have a longer list of failures. And the failures in these departments have had more dramatic impact than the failed draft picks.
Melo was also acquired from the draft picks that did work out with Chandler and Danilo.
But all in all. There is no proven blueprint or everybody would be doing the same exact thing. You have to be able to utilize all these avenues to be successfull. Making sound decisions bewteen them based off your situation and whats available.
Knicks spent 70+ mil in cap this off season after attempting to sign star power in KD and Kyrie and failing.
Kanter is beasting against Embiid

Kanter played well but "beasting"?
Watching the lakers vs Heat tonight and wondering why we can't get young players like Miami. That young'in Duncan Robinson looks like the real deal. He is a long ball specialist and doesn't miss.

It’s not the player...it’s the coaching

Knicks don't really don't develop well.

Which is why I don't understand the Tank theory.

GSW may have one down yr by default, Nab a top 3 pick and be back on track next yr developing that same pick in a winning environment.
We develop our players by losing tons and tons of games and wonder why they keeping making the same mistakes, or look decent every 5 to 10 games

Was KP the same "mistake" as any before?
Is RJ Barrett a "Mistake"?
At some point you gain traction and move forward with assets to make trades and attract FA's.
We all know you see Mills as the issue.
Frank and Knox were drafted in different spaces than KP and Barrett. There is no denying we are not in a good place. Discussion is not where we have been, but how to get out of it. The attempt this past summer was not to tank. Thats why we got the more experienced players. If Fiz was the issue he is no longer. As for Mills/Perry some of us are content to let it play out and see what happens. Not panic. 60 day window to trade Morris or randle. Want a good deal then yuo have to have an asset others want/need. Panic, they will smell fear. As a fan, you reek of it.
Mavs (without luca and THJ playing like ass) playing tough against bucks
One thing clear w both teams. On a stop or long rebound they fly into their offense. Not just steals
We need more of that !!
