yeah he's an historically good shooter ("In 2019, Brogdon became the eighth player in NBA history to achieve a 50–40–90 season") who's getting better every year. he's a sg tho he's also listed as a pg. good defender (was acc defensive player of the year as well as player of the year). i know all 3 parties made this deal - i just forgot he was restricted. never mind

Just look around the league, how many of the TOP 10 players are on teams that drafted them.

I think he also had a procedure done to his foot at some point that could eventually threaten his career. I remember Kevin O’Connor saying scouts were very worried about his foot ‘blowing up. I don’t remember the specifics of the procedure.

I agree with you. The Knicks shouldn't push to sign anything other than a top 5 or 10 player to a max deal unless they really believe it is the piece that puts the team over the top. Missing out on KD, I would focus on building a system and creating value for the franchise.
we have cleared enough cap over the yrs to signed a top 5 player going all the way back when Houston, MJ and Reggie Miller were UFA, and landed Houston in that class, then it was the LBJ wade, Bosh Amare UFA class, and Landed Amare, this time around we landed 3rd tier role players, the worst in 2 decades.
The only way to get a TOP 10 player in NY is go to all in and trade for them, because it's painfully obvious they're not coming here on their own, and it doesn't matter who is in the FO
Who is FO is not so high on FA check list.
But the roster makeup and the team potential is at the top.
Money grabbers and megalomans like Marbs or Melo sure have the all-alone and big-pay-check at the top of the list.
But real mega-talents and their support teams are looking at success ready teams first.

You really think KNOX, RJ, Trier, frank, or Mitch are going to be around for that championship run(whenever that is).
This season is going to dictate, who is going to be around for that run, because if we dont make the playoffs (37 wins should do the trick) in this weak ass EC, everybody should be fired.

"Overpay" is subjective. How do you justify the statement? Any means to compare? Which players of the 7 did we overpay and why?
Top 10 not with team drafted. OK, what does that mean? Cite some examples of players and why knicks are faultering here and what blown opportunities we missed and what the ramifications if we made a deal the team would look like afterwards.
Our yoot around for championship run? For that to happen they either have to be top players or we make trades. I doubt anyone thinks this roster is set and we just let I mature. Trades, FA's will happen. They need to be better assets to play or trade. You have read this 100 times.
37 wins? how do you quantify that? and how do you justify this roster if not meeting that arbitrary number would incite a complete house cleaning of the FO and coaches. What is your alternative roadmap?
