Thought he was better than he was as a point forward type. He has no business doing so. Doesn’t have the IQ with a coach that isn’t gonna do him any favors in terms of getting the best out of him.
He had nothing tonight. Any average coach would see that yet Fizdale is either afraid to bench him or just clueless
I think point forward is still in his bag, he's simply just not someone who is going to close games/be the main main which is something we knew coming into this season. In reality he's like the 3rd/4th piece down the line in 2021.

I think this is the case. He is best as a complimentary player. He can excel and put up great numbers in that role.

Next to who though? Tonight, he played exactly how I once said he should away from playing. A lesser version of Melo.

Same thing with RJ at PG.
Fiz is doing his biggest players a disservice playing them out of position or place.
Being able to do something for a few possessions doesn't mean you should play like that almost a whole game.
Randle looks like an out-of-control mess so many times! And RJ gets burned many times because he constantly has to play against quicker guys simply because the coach wants him to be a PG.
Not good for the team, Fiz.
Deactivate Smith Jr. or Frank if you spot don't trust them and get Allen as your backup PG, but don't keep messing with RJ.

He isn't a strong enough defender or shooter to be a 3rd or 4th option in a starting lineup though. If he was a point forward type that could be the #2 then it works given his strengths and weaknesses. If he is a 3rd-4th option then he needs to be a 6th man to be on a winning team.
But that won't happen on this roster. So Fiz needs to start utilizing him more within the pick with Payton or Barrett over ISO unless for mismatch. His game is made for the PNR. What I was hoping for was the one play he made from the top of the key where he drove and kicked for the corner 3.
Randle is a capable starter on a winning team. He should be used adequately, which isn't happening with us so far.
If position-less basketball is playing guys out of position and on styles that don't fit their games, then its a terrible philosophy to use on your team.
Did you guys see the almost technical when he chucked the ball at the ref with a minute left and up by 3? We got lucky as hell they honored the timeout. That was my first view into his mindset as a player and was not a good look. Not a guy I want leading my team.
Fizdale did nothing to help Randle's passing-game, so the talk on Randle being a point-forward was just talk-talk-talk. Randle's performance became a big project on the Lakers, Randle's hustle and offensive-rebounding and scoring on broken plays his 4th season in the NBA made teams interested in his role-play performance.
It did not look good for Randle when AD got tired of being on a loser team.
Recall .. Fizdale talk-talk talk bout Lance Thomas being able to give the Knicks a Draymond Green performance.
Why didn't our foolish Mills/Perry use $$$ to hire one of the unemployed NBA head coaches as an assistant head-coach at the end of the 17 win season ?????
Wow its almost as if Knicks fans overvalued an overpaid free agent. How unusual.

Not sure he was overpaid based on the market, but he looked overvalued this last game. I still think he can be a facilitator, but the tunnel vision has been noted as a weakness in his game. Coach can't be afraid to sit him when he's self destructing. Sometimes you can get a different perspective of a game from the bench. Whatever, suck...again.

Two games in. These forums are like a self-parody!
So the big name FA's don't want to sign here, fans complain and question why no one wants to come here. But Randle does sign with us because he wants to be here. After ONE bad game fans tear into him then wonder why no one wants to sign here. Worst fans in the league.

Im not blaming Randle Im blaming Fiz. I actually like Randle. However he clearly didnt have it last night and tried to force things. Fiz should of recognized that but instead let him continue to do it. Make no mistake about it we beat the Nets last night and they are only breathing a sigh of relief because Fiz couldnt recognize the simplest thing

Acknowledging I was wrong about level of his point forward capabilities isn't tearing into him.
But you also cant play like he played last game, and not get called out for it. That was beyond just a bad game. His shot not falling and him turning the ball over, it happens. But when he was inserted back into the game late in the 4th. Instead of realizing he doesn't have it, and has been hurting the team more than helping when in iso mode. He attempts to play more hero ball instead of moving the ball and trusting his teammates. Who were the reason they got back into the game while he was on the bench.
He shouldn't have been inserted back in the game. Fiz also isnt putting him in the best positions to succeed. Giving him enough rope to hang himself. Randle has talent, he needs structure.

I wouldn’t jump to a conclusion like that based on this moment. I mean, yes, his IQ is very questionable after tonight, but you have to take into account the frustrating night he was having and How he seems to be trying to do what his coach is asking from him.
I haven’t seen him look so out of control before in any previous game or highlight on other teams. At least not as consistently as with us.
If things don’t change with him, I’d still have to put a lot on blame on the way the coach is using him.

Highlights?! We talking about higlights?! So it's the coaches fault that Randle looks out of control with us after 2 games but he's never looked out of control in Highlights you seen of him on previous teams? Pretty sure what we are seeing has always been a part of his game. Plenty of things to blame Fiz for but after 2 games this is a bit much...

Yeah, dude, run away with the highlights and ignore the “any previous game” I mentioned. We’ve all seen Randle play before and it’s striking how out of control he looks with us trying to please his coach because he claims he should be a point forward for an extended time.
But yeah, take my post out of context. Good look!

Randle as your 4th best player would work, problem is he is the most acccomplshed player on the team

Look ive supported Fiz through a lot BUT last night is on him. Players have off nights I get that but both Morris and Randle were playing too much ISO which wasnt working and it was causing bad turnovers and possessions. Despite that we got back in the game and pretty much had the game won until they continued doing iso and turning it over. This is when Fizdale needs to pull in the reigns and tell them not to do that or bench them.
