Frank was 0-6 and he still was the fourth best player in the game behind Portia, Barrett, and Randle. Frank brings a calmness to the offense and lifts the defense up to another level. I saw guys literally turn down drives because they did not want to drive against Frank. His 3pt shooting will come if Fiz shows him that he is not going to get pulled for missing a shot. Frank needs Fiz to believe in him and Frank will get that FIBA Frank vide again. All our pgs have flaws but only one excels at any one thing and that is Frank. Build the team on defense and hope we can score enough to win like tonight.
Team effort, Portis covered for Frank's offense while Frank locked down the perimeter. Barrett did what Barrett does.
Look it’s no secret I root for Frank but it’s a team effort. Frank played his part but Portis was a monster, RJ is a steal, Mitch was great, Knox, showing big progress. Dennis Smith jr still has big potential. Hopefully he comes back and is ready to roll

I don't know why, but I think we lose if DSJ was playing. His energy and body language is contagious. The best thing that happened was DSJ didn't play. Sorry for his lost though. I've had my share of funnerals.
But Fitz got a chance to play Frank more and Frank built us his confidence, which was needed. Give me a tall 6'5 with 7ft wing span at PG any day. Plus Frank has an improved jumper and offensive game. Payton is nice, in the open court. But with this team of forwards, as a half court team of the 90's, we need Frank to play the Charlie Ward role.
Frank did his thing defensively. His role is just capped out unless he can put the ball in the basket once in awhile.
The scoring will come with playing time. Not inconsistent playing time either. Fizdale has to be consistent he may be the weakest link on the Knicks.

Fiz needs to sit DSJ for 10 games. Let Frank get his groove on and let DSJ's back heal. I agree and don't like DSJ's body language. He needs to take a few games off and get his head right.
Fix needs to design plays for easy baskets for Frank early in his time on the court. Give him confidence early. That will breed more confdence.
They key to winning games is defense. Frank has it and he can run the offense. He just can’t make a damn shot!!

Frank absolutely needs to play. His D more than makes up for his lack of O. And he takes wide open jumpers - they aren't bad shots. They'll start to fall. We need Frankie Smokes

Nobody is even talking about poor Dotson and IGGY, guys who can shoot..

u can't afford to not play frank. he is a key to this team gelling and succeeding.
this is a major test for fiz. he mishandles frank he's gone. and should be.
give dennis all the time he needs to get it together. he's a talented kid. if his health is the reason he's sucking you have to prioritize that. if fiz is messing him up it's another crucial test for fiz.
Frank had two beautiful drives to the basket early in the 4th. The shots didn't go in but he took it to the hole. Those two drives tell me all I need to know - just give the kid some run and he'll be fine. And a key cog in our turning this thing around.
IF Fiz is true to the defense gives you playing time then it might be why Trier did not play last night.
If Trier is doing his thing but can’t see the double coming or sees it too late the flow/Rhythm is done.
Its not hard to understand that the key to GSW high octane offense the last few years was fueled by defense and finished by talent.
Frank cuts off passing lanes that cause turnovers. Its subtle. It breaks the other teams flow. We love Blocked shots and outright “stops” but good defense by the team is also achieved in other ways. I’ll point to the “Heatles” and it was not until Lebron and company lost in the finals did they succumb to Spolestra’s team defense. That fueled the tempo. When Lebron resisted and wanted Riley to take over it was Riles that said “No”. Riles backed up Spo. Fiz was part of that coaching staff. He understands this. Can he teach it? Can he get an young deep team whose best player is 19 years old to lead? Its going to take time.
Frank could be part of a winning formula. Frank has to hit his shots. Trier needs to play defense/pass. Dennis needs to improve physically then he can be Dwade when he grows up.
Knicks might do well to seek a trade to reduce its logjam.

Some of you guys are overstating his impact but thats expected from some of you. At this point, Frank is a defensive specialist off the bench. Nothing wrong with that role as most teams need players like that. Still tons of work needs to be done on the offensive end as he finished with 3 turnovers and was 0-6 from the field.
I would love for the Knicks to move Payton at the deadline and allow Dennis and Frank to run the show....

yes he was 0-6 BUT one was a goaltend non call again and there were I think two others that just rolled in and out. They were all good looks he just didn't get the bounces. I agree his offense still needs to progress but i like that he was being smart but aggressive. The shots will fall if he continues. I don't agree that anybody is "overstating" his impact. Nobody is saying he is the savior or that he singlehandedly was the reason we won. We simply are saying that he played a part, just like Portis ,RJ, Mitch, Knox.

Absolutely. He also had that drive and dish to Randle that was pretty. He just needs reps in the offense. Fiz needs to give him the same slack he has given to everyone else.

payton had 5 steals against the spurs, he push the pace, and played solid, after that game most fans wanted him as the starter, it was almost a no brainer.
Whoever has a good game, the fans want more PT, that's how it is. Portis was ragged for his suspect play, now he's our hero.
I think that's how it's going to be with this group, the only player thats been solid right through is Barret
What the knicks need to do, is make a trade for a complete starting PG, someone who does it on both ends, and then pick who you want as a Back up

Minus him missing the open 3s. I would take the same game from Frank day after day.
His defense is elite. Bulls guards in Lavine-White-Dunn-Satoranski weren't able to take over the game. Same difference we saw vs Tre Young in ATL. Portis and Randle aren't rim protectors. Frank & Barrett defensively do a great job of keeping them clean. Where they can focus mostly on rebounding shots rather than contesting layups off penetration.
Offensively while his shot didn't fall, the offense didn't stagnate. Fizz rotated more shooters in with Ellington and Knox allowing Barrett to get the spacing to go in attack mode basically acting as a lead guard. This in turn protected Frank from having to man those responsibilities. Even with Franks misses Bulls still allowed the Knicks to get the spacing it needed. Then Randle started getting his ish together off the short roll witht he passes.
