Knicks · Up next.... Tom T? Woodson? (page 1)

i thought about Blatt because of the Princeton connection but sadly he was recently diagnosed with MS

So the FO -- as we've been told repeatedly -- had a Plan B concerning FA when they got skunked by the good ones

WHat is Plan B for coaches -- and will it be better than their plan B for FAs?

Rumor is Mark Jackson could be in consideration I'm just asking for a friend, but if you were looking for a new team to root for, hypothetically speaking of course, who would you choose?

Haha

Maybe they hire Mark Jackson just to prove things actually could be worse?

hypothetically speaking I'm watching Mavs and Clips. Like Doc Rivers. think he always gets the best out of his group. Mavs just to torture myself

Too much history with the Mavs, but the Clips might be a good choice hahahaha

I would go with the Hawks. I think they have a good thing going despite trading Doncic.

Our PGs will have him snap right away...
He will kill somebody...

GoNyGoNyGo @ 11/11/2019 7:13 PM
I think Thibodeau would be a tough hire. Run out of 2 teams now.

MJax did a great thing with a young GS team BUT they had a lot of talent. It would be interesting - the PG's would be expected to run the offense. Not a bad idea.

jskinny35 @ 11/12/2019 12:09 AM
I would be ok with Mark Jackson but only because he seems to be a back stabbing guy... same as Jason Kidd - out for himself at all costs. He coaches from a "us against the world" position so it could work (in the short-term) before it will eventually end terribly. I think when it ends terribly he would be the only coach to have the stones to share the dirt and blast Dolan in public - which could finally lead to him selling the team. So for this reason alone I think we should hire him!
franco12 @ 11/12/2019 7:50 AM
Lenny Wilkins? Isiah Thomas!

It will be telling on the direction things go. I could see Dolan telling Mills/Perry - they get an interim only - because their jobs are on the line as well, and they won't pick a permanent replacement until the summer.

How about Rick Pitno, or is he persona non grata in the NBA? If we're going retro, I think this roster could be used very similarly to what Pitino did in his earlier stint, which honestly was as modern as any club out there now.

Imagine the full court press with some of the length we have on the squad!

Nalod @ 11/12/2019 8:00 AM
Go interim and promote from within and see how the season goes. If the losing continues fans are cool with arguing about Thibs vs. Mark Jax and fantasy about Urjiri. Think of the good he can do with Dolans Millions in NYC!

at least with Starphuch aspirations we can have hope which keeps fans busy. Its all bull shyt.

stanleybostitch @ 11/12/2019 8:08 AM
A lot of us want Fiz gone, understandably. No system, no progress, too much ISO...at least the D intensity is up. But say we move on - the danger I see here is if Dolan decides he's had enough of the patient rebuild and decides we need to be in the starphucking business again. If this happens, then a lot of us may not see the Knicks return to prominence in our lifetimes unless and until Dolan sells. Damn.
Nalod @ 11/12/2019 8:37 AM
12 coaches in 18 years.
Knixkik @ 11/12/2019 9:11 AM
Mark Jackson won't be popular among a lot here, but i will say this. I have a friend who is a very knowledgeable basketball person and big Knicks fan. He has hated every coach signing in recent years, and has been right. For years he has been begging for Jackson. Maybe he's onto something.
Chandler @ 11/12/2019 9:19 AM
Sorry I don’t get the Jackson love. When GS ousted him they won roughly 20 more games w essentially the same roster

I think he falls into the category of coaches who are good at speeches not coaching

fitzfarm @ 11/12/2019 9:31 AM
Mark deserves a shot, the guy is tough love coach who preaches defense. He could do wonders for frank & DSJR. I think his oust in Oakland was total BS because he didn’t get along with upper management.... with more loses Dolan is going to clean slate so mills and Perry are going to act fast .... if we get blown out by the bulls fiz is toast
jrodmc @ 11/12/2019 11:17 AM
The ultimate retread: Jeff Van Gundy, and he's got International experience (Hi Frank!)
Then give Ujiri a PJax contract.
Then let him fire Mills.
Then watch the chips roll in. Done.

I think he did a pretty good job with player development in GS though.

anrst @ 11/12/2019 1:55 PM
if they hire mark jackson i mean ... i might have to show myself the door... the man is a buffoon and another personality as opposed to an actual coach

mike miller as interim.

if he's crap, then dave joerger

newyorknewyork @ 11/12/2019 2:11 PM
Tom T, Woodson, JVG, Jackson. They all are the same. None of them bring any type of creativety or innovation.

The success of any coach moving forward is going to be predicated on their ability to maximize the talents of RJ, Frank, Smith, Trier in the backcourt. This will open up the game for the other young talent in Knox, Mitch, Randle & Portis. Who are all 20-24 themselves.

So who is the guy that can actually pull that off??
