Extremely small sample size and he had, IN MY OPINION, a very dominate player in Carmelo Anthony.
So, Unless you think Randle or Morris are at that same level as Anthony (or Stoudimare for that matter), I don't believe it would make much of a difference who is coaching this team.

there's some romantic ideal of keeping a coach and consistency. GS switched coaches after a 50+ win season and improved 16 games with same roster. Toronto dumped a guy who won coach of the year and won a title. Cavs dumped a coach during the season won a title.
At the end of the day, the FO is supposed to exercise judgment and figure out what's best for the franchise (not themselves). I have a hard time identifying one reason why keeping the coach makes sense

Exactly, wasting valuable developmental time is not what this organization should do. Time is a factor that we all have to adhere by. Quicker a move is made the quicker the organization can move forward.

The thing is- a "magical" early season firing fix - even if you love the new coach- is leaving them to a shit show!
If you want a new coach, make it next year. Mitch DSjr and Payton are injured - consistency? - how could there be with these injuries and the players hardly knowing each other? If it had been 10 healthy days and 2-8 I get it- but Steve Mills has NO CHILL and instead of coming out and supporting his coach, saying it's 10 days where 2 PGs are injured and we're already introducing a rookie and new PF to the starting lineup- Don't blame Fiz- and the players are ok too- they're having to do too much and don't have chemistry yet and are wearing themselves out- I just wanted to let all the public and coach and team know I have their back and I know things will come together the way we want to with the team - I trust the players and coach- I'll support them through a tough start. He comes out like an stern school marm and Scott Perry is just thinking to himself- stay profesional.
Fire Mills and give Perry and Fiz the rest of the year without Mills' bad vibe and losing record, and be like a NORMAL young team and let's see what a full season brings.

Maybe a year would be ideal. But the reality is James Dolan is our owner. I'll split the difference and say reavaluate at mid-season.
It's kind of a tough call when to switch coaches... if you think Fiz is gone eventually - maybe better to do it sooner to avoid the bad habit thing which is tougher to undo when players keep reinforcing bad habits. One positive I'll say is that last year Knox just chucked and chucked and never got pulled. Playing behind Morris now he seems to utilize better shot selection. Seems like Fiz does connect/develop with certain players (eg Mud) and sets others back.

Young players progression is not linear. There are ups and downs.
Some need year or too and some 4 or 5.
I think Fiz has a method to his madness.
He tried to build player character first and skills second by putting players in uncomfortable settings.
This how stars are made and regular players are broken.
Harsh but effective. Takes time and not guarantied.
Only time will tell if it will be given.

Our best assets are our young guys. The other guys are one year rentals, maybe 2. We are wasting a valuable year for development from a real coach. Fizz is not a teacher coach, not a disciplinarian
He's a guy Lebron likes because Fizz would love nothing better than for Lebron to figure out an instill an offense himself.
This is not NORMAL young team. We hired a bunch of seasoned vets and they're playing Y ball

The same Pitino who cut bait on Billups months after drafting him in the lottery? Pitino had success with the Knicks, but was a disaster with the Celtics. Wouldn't hurt bringing him in for an interview, but he'd be low on my list. He would really have to blow my socks off.
