He hits spot up threes.
He's iso-heavy.
Even the quick slap-away blocks being his only defensive highlights.
His assists are almost always noisy.

Randle's form on that jumper is sheehit ugly by comparison though.

Agreed. Was watching (no surprise - Boo Nalod!) a vid by some shot doctor who broke down Melo's in-shot adjustments on his jumper. Was slightly fascinating.

I wonder if Melo gets the love when he comes back with Portland on New Years Day? (providing he lasts that long ).

The lefty shot and burly physique reminds me of Willis. Im not saying Randle is Willis. Different players in different era's.

Melo is HOF bound. Randle no so. Randle Two years guaranteed, third year not. Melo, no trade clause.

Has he played back in NY since his departure? With OKC? It think he gets treated very well and cheered.
On the record my issue was not with melo, it was the Mooby like worship of him by fans and Dolan who promoted him as the savior. Issue as we depleted our assets to get him and had to rely on JR Smith.

I know i expected his impact to be similar to when Amare came to the Knicks.

I don't think he is anything like Melo, melo's scoring ability(when he is on) is top 5 of all time.

I do think randle has all star potential, and once payton comes back I think that's when will see more games like last night

He's poor man's Amare. Enough of a jumper to keep the defense honest and get hot. Good around the basket. Good all around skills, not the explosive athlete Amare was. A willing but not very effective defender, very good on the boards and following his own shots.

I still like him and as our PG play improves so will how people think about Randle. Also its clear Randle is being overused and that is not a defense of him. Opposite really as its clear he's not talented enough to do what he's being asked and when you ask guys to do too much they get exposed. Randle is a good piece and will help us. He's allowed to do some growing also and coming fact to face with limitations isnt always a bad thing

Maybe if Melo spend time in the Gleague his defense and passing would have been better?

Randle is a better all around player than Melo. Rebounding, passing interior player and not to mention he is more efficient. But his turnovers are ghastly. Just to many of them he cleans that up and play better on defense he would be considered a great player.

Your asking to compare Randle to Melo and I said Randle is a better all around player. Passing, rebounding he scores as well and shoots a better percentage. What is not accurate about this. Melo had a lot more fan fare which tends to warp how people see him. Randle doesn’t come with that. Randle’s issues is he is sloppy with the basketball. He is better when he make quick decisions. He seems to be willing learner and adjuster unlike Melo who came with major resistance. Anyways to each his own that is my opinion.

Randle has not elevated the knicks as of yet, the way Melo or Amare had went they got here

The Knicks played .500 basketball after he joined the Knicks. The nuggets improve 3 games after the trade. Let’s play along and go into the future a year after trade. Nuggets 35-23 Knicks 27-33. Everyone keeps harping one the 54 win team. Melo was an amazing role player that year. I say role player because he wasn’t asked to much with JKidd and other vets covering him up big time. All he had to do is be a scorer which he is most willing at. Everyone wants to give credit to Melo who was playing with a veteran team of old farts. But it was the veterans that brought winning mentality and took him for a ride. Great inefficient scorer that had a lot of people fooled because of fan fare. The pseudo superstar.

Randle has not elevated the knicks as of yet, the way Melo or Amare had went they got here

Before you side with anyone think who Melo was playing with. And who is Randle playing with today. He is essentially playing with 3 vets and the rest are finding their footing in the NBA. So if you are looking for impact Randles impact is much greater.

One thing is evaluate player separate from team concept.
Melo is one of the greatest individual scoring talents in NBA history.
He was able to keep very bad teams in games and win games alone just by his scoring ability.

As far as being a part of team success Melo is one of NBA junkies.
His presence alone made it impossible for his NBA teams to assemble sustainable winning rosters.
His playing style was not conductive to team winning, comradeship, and development of young assets.

Randle is not even close to Melo as individual talent and will never be.
As a team player he is already better but he is not your ultimate team player who makes teammates and team as a whole better.
His path to stardom is ONLY through the team success and being all around team player.
The biggest obstacle for him to get there his bbal IQ and quickness of his mind.
I do not think this is fixable at his age.
He is complimentary player and will be as such so needs to be used appropriately or moved if this will not be possible.
