Feel bad for him that he was fired, but was not a fan of Fizdale.

I complained about it constantly when I posted on game threads...I rarely saw any kind of offensive "system" being played, it was all individual ISO type play, with no discernible strategy on the offensive end. Minimal movement without the ball...a lot of standing around, and many of our assists were the result of individual effort, and not an organized system where guys know they will get the ball if they put themselves into he right position.

I actually don't think our talent level is terrible...really, I don't, but a good coach can make a team better than the sum of its players, and I don't think Fizdale had that ability with the players he was dealt.

I think Fiz was done after that press conference Perry and Mills had after the Cavs loss. Bad roster and thrown under the bus don't help a coach succeed. I do want to see what Miller can do. He was the guy I hoped would get the job once the move happened.

Agreed that Fiz was a goner after the press conference...Still feel that Mills should have walked out of the with Fiz...With that said, I'm a Knick fan first and foremost and root for the front of the jersey moreso than the back. Miller is the coach now, so I'm rooting for him to do well enough the rest of the year to get an extension. Tired of the revolving door of coaches.

couldn’t disagree more. stevens was in a similar situation and had his team in the playoffs in his 2nd year. fizdale is possibly the worst coach i’ve ever seen.

How was Steven's in the same situation as Fiz when Steven's coached the Celtics, one of the most respected, stable, best run franchises in the league, a championship winning GM who had already been on the job for 12 years already, a roster hand picked by that championship winning GM, an owner that doesn't meddle?

Of all the coaches you could have chosen, Steven's is a poor choice in my opinion. How about we take a look at a hall of fame coach and a very good coach in their 2nd years that coached under the same Knick Owner?

Larry Brown, who just lost in the finals, won 25 games in his 1st year here! He didnt even make it to his 2nd year in this circus show.

Mike Dantoni won 29 games in his second year here! See a pattern?

stevens inherited a team with nothing but courtney lee 😮 in 2013-14 and went 25-57. however, as opposed to the knicks last year, they were widely touted as being all in, playing hard and maxing out the meager talent they had. as opposed to last year’s knicks, who were touted only for being all in on the zion sweepstakes, giving mitch and allonzo the most minutes they could be expected to have to showcase their unexpected abilities and of course the mudiay “resurrection.”

in steven’s second year he gained jae crowder, jameer nelson, marcus smart and isaiah thomas and turned that into 40-42 and a playoff berth. +15.

fizdale inherited in year 2 julius randle, marcus morris, dennis smith, taj gibson, bobby portis, rj barrett and a year of seasoning and maturing for kevin knox, frank n, zo, mitch and whoever i’m forgetting.

and u want to blame 4-18 on everyone BUT the coach? c’mon we all wanted him to succeed. but when is it ok to hold the actual coach responsible for poor execution? a regression in performance on EVERYONE’S part is the fault of everyone BUT the coach?

Was watching new Terry and tray clip and they mentioned that someone reported that prior to the firing, Fizdale has 2 arguments with 2 separate players. 1 youngin 1 vet.... Hmmmmm

Not surprising. It happens in every locker room. Some guys get called a pv$$y and get all emo, while others take the challenge. That said...those blowouts suggested he may have lost the team. The Mills/Perry press conference could have gone another way and energized the players to execute better and play for the team. It looks like it went the other way.

Again, it's not the same on a variety of levels. Environment, expectations from front office and owner, winning culture, etc...Also, half the Knicks roster is loaded with players on 1 year deals. What's the buy-in factor? How many of these guys are looking for their next long term deal as opposed to helping this franchise push into a future they know they wont be apart of?

Also, Isaiah Thomas was better than any player on the Knicks roster, that team also had an identity. Crowder, Bradley, Smart and I believe Jeff Green was on that team was 5xs the defensive team we are today.

Fiz definitely is not without his faults. I disagreed with some of his coaching philosophies...hate switching on PNRs especially with this roster, didnt like some of his sub patterns and constant line up changes and of course I didnt like some of the young players losing mins. My frustration is more with the front office and especially our owner!!!

Cant believe that after an extensive coaching search, and the front office hired Fiz, that anyone envisioned him getting fired 1 year and a quarter after the hire. Something went terribly wrong and it ain't all on Fiz.

Fiz definitely got exposed, and he was the one to bring Keith "not so" Smart along for the tankathon...

Hope Dolan and his PR team of minions do not start planting hit-pieces on Fiz to make him look bad. They already fired him, let him be...In the end, it will make this franchise look bad.

Disagree. Would not call our forwards mentally weak as individual players. Collectively, yes. Believe the reason for that distinction, is the team is effectively rudderless. Didnt see the leadership from Fizdale, didnt see enough of it at the point. Its been a weird season with our PGs.

Definitely some improvment from Frank and Dennis, not enough to lead the team with their play. Morris and Randle arent used to being called upon to lead, more a lack of experience than weakness.

If Perry made one noticeable mistake, it was signing both Randle and Morris. Believe its messing with the chemistry. The more games I see, the more I hope Morris sticks around. If Miller can get the PGs to effectively run the team, settle things down. Believe the team will start playing with more focus, wont fall apart from the pressure, as a team. My hope anyway.
