Knicks · My Blueprint -- Mike Miller feel free to plagiarize (page 1)
throw a lazy, lollipop pass -- you sit
set a lazy pick -- you sit
don't run back on D -- you sit
don't box out -- you sit
no effort -- you must be tired, you sit
Minutes need to be earned
I'm sure there are others but there must be some golden rules, purely on the player. It' a lot easier to talk about accountability when the expectations are crystal clear
there are many other aspects to good team ball but they're often a combination of player, scheme and coach. For example Randles turnovers might be him, but it might also be because the coach wanted him to dribble so much (for which the coach is to blame as much as the player). Same too for Mitch. Perhaps the coach wasn't defining his defensive assignments clearly enough. In any event, when we speak of accountability, rule 1 is clear rules for what is to be expected
IN terms of rotations, personally i would like to see all 12 play because if anything we have depth, even if mediocre. It will be a bit like running back by committee with lesser talents
I could easily envision Randle playing the 5, I could easily see Knox and Morris on the floor at the same time to provide more spot up shooting, or Portis. DSJ and Frank need to stay up top, no more hiding in the corner
Either the coach or Morris or another vet need to speak to DSJ to cut the sulking crap. Totally a BS move from a pg in particular. He needs to set the tone on offense and defense and stay positive. Even if he sucks on D (and he does) he has to lead w effort and engagement. I may be a bit old school but in my book pgs are expected leaders and he needs to learn to set the tone attitudinally just as much as he needs to learn to throw crisp passes consistently
Same too but to a lesser extent for KK. Personally I think this kid has a ton of potential. He doesn't shake off flubs and mistakes the way RJ does, and instead he hangs his head and disappears. We need to tell him that he is needed. Shake it off and get back to work
I am purposefully leaving out any suggestions about the O and D schemes because i think there are a lot that can be effective but they will depend on personnel and what the coach likes. No scheme will be very effective though if guys aren't playing the right way.
Quinn Snyder and Nick Nurse were G-league. Phil was minor league too but i forget what it was called. So I am hoping Miller will follow suit

Phil coached the Albany Patroons of the CBA. George Karl also got his coaching chops in the CBA.

What's wrong with your blueprint is that its been done.
Its no longer about "you suck you sit". We already know who the players are who should have been sat. In fact they should be shown the door sooner than later. More than accountability, Miller needs to invest time, energy, and floor minutes in players who already follow the rules and work hard.
DSJ is a hopeless project. His attention span for basketball isn't there. Knox is in that same boat.
I can see Randle being successful somewhere else. In fact, anywhere else.
I think you are engaging in magical thinking about redeeeming Randall, DSJ, Knox, and a few others.
Its time to recalibrate the roster.
Randle mucks up everything and he's not good enough to justify his usage rate.
Nice spare part miscast as main cog. Miller has carte blanche to make a major move for the rest of the season. This is it. Use Randle another way. TO hell with trade value. Everyone's value will go up if he finds a combo that works.
Sambakick wrote:Just bench Randle or move him out of the paint. There is no spacing with Randle in the paint for rim runners like Mitch and Knox. Even Trier.Randle mucks up everything and he's not good enough to justify his usage rate.

We'll see what Miller envisions for the team.
Randle is not worthless and so forth but as you say, miscast. Personally, I can't think of a good reason to hang onto him given what we've seen of him in combination with his teammates. Bad fit. Move on.
stanleybostitch wrote:If you dribble the ball away, you sit. Though then Randle would be on the bench for the rest of the year, so ya, good luck with that.
After watching Randall dribble off his foot a few times he decided Randall was a PF. Take that for coaching.

I’d preach patience w KK. I think fizz was a bad coach for him. I think KK will turn the corner and contribute w a defined role
My biggest issue w Fizz (and there were lots) is he wanted all of his players to be superstars and thought he was the missing ingredient to their succcess. A lot of these guys can contribute (including randle — btw never liked the signing) but we need a coach who has a player play to his strengths

This game was not much different from any 10 or so close games we had.
Both team had no starts (Brogdon was out) and we have non.
So that why it was 1-20 for both teams combined in last stretch of the game.
Any team with all starts or even one star will crash us in close game.
All our players were doing exactly same things they usually did - good and bad.
We lost because of pure FT from RJ an Randle, Randle turnovers and 1 on 5 ISOs, pure shooting across the roster, especially from PG position.
Bad defense from Portis, Smith, and Knox.
Coach will need to farther simplify the offense and sit bad defenders.
But at the same time he have to develop same players...
Man will have his hands full with this bunch of jounglings and misfits.

Pretty much. It looked a lot better in either way
