Knicks · Reevaluating FA signings... (page 1)

arkrud @ 12/20/2019 10:32 AM
Fans like knicks1248 continue to blame FO for getting 7 2nd and 3rd tier FA for evaluation.
And this opinion is looking more dumb by day.
There is no other way to build the team when no top FA will join until team will be ready to break out.
We already see Morris, Payton, and Gibson gaining value on the team and for the trades.
Bullock will start his evaluation soon just in time for deadline.
We also already see that Portis and Ellington will not work for us.
But even they can be used as fillers. Their value is not much different from what it was last summer.
Rangle is still a question. I think his value dropped a bit but he is not helpless.
He needed right coaching and PG and may be he get one in Miller and Payton.
All-in-all it is shaping out to be a solid FA campaign considering our situation at a time.

Dude get a grip, you begging for attn like a little brat..I stated this roster had the potential to win 37 to 44 wins in this weak ass east..

I also agreed with the press conference that Mills did, because the team was playing well below their potential.

Your ass wanted to keep fiz for stability purposes (don't let me go pull your dumb comments about a new coach would do nothing different with this roster)

And 99.9% of fans want mills gone, it's just crazy how it took so many fans this long to realize he's trash..

If Knicks under Miller finish the season .500, Specifically under miller as coach do you still admonish the FO?
Im not saying the whole season at .500, just after Fiz was departed.
Now, for that to happen actually players both the FA's and the kids would have done good things. Does that realign the Knicks goals for the season as completed?
or, you don't care if knicks finish the season undefeated you still want the FO and coach removed?

I could careless who's running the front office as long as it's producing a winning environment.

Prior to the start of the I didn't knock mills on the roster he assembled, although I thought he could have made better moves.

It's a clear case of Mills not having the experience to hold that position..

Do you see the difference in Miller and Fizdale, miller sounds like a real coach, and he coaches like he knows what he wants, while fiz was all about trying something new almost every game

We can always do better.
Fizdale was a mistake now corrected.
Funny, I think Mills has the experience. Question is does he learn? Does he learn from experience?

New coach simplified things on both end to have this group play up to their abilities.
Fiz was trying to force them to be better that they can or be fired if they cannot.
He accomplished the latter.
If Mills will be gone I have no issues with it. He is an empty suite and as such replaceable with anything.
But I do not want any new real power person to come in as this will mean to start all over again.
Do you want this? And why?

We're really comparing an NBA exec to a UK poster?
Can we get back to reality please?

Mills has no track record that bespeaks of anything you could learn from. Unless "don't say 'get in the truck'" is a teachable moment.

Reality is Mills has nothing positive to reflect upon that he was directly responsible for. Unless spreadsheet management gets you to Ujiri level somehow.

Nalod big on Mills having nothing to little to do with the Phil era. Not much else to do but wait and see what happens now. Nobody to hide behind.

It's on Mills now.

Knixkik @ 12/20/2019 3:08 PM
I would fire Mills regardless of the result this year because his plan was to build thru the draft and establish a great culture and neither has happened. Signing vets to block prospects growth isn't building thru the draft. And the issues this season so far shows the laughing stock around the league, which is not developing a good culture. The statement after 10 games was a bad idea, and the silence ever since is even worse. The front office has been incredibly inconsistent in their communication, or lack of, and it can't continue. Now if a new President chooses to keep Perry, i'm fine with that. He hasn't done a bad job under the circumstances. And if Miller continues to earn his keep, even better. But the President is responsible for establishing a plan and sticking to it, and Mills has not done that.
Nalod @ 12/20/2019 4:54 PM
I am experienced fan having been thru how many coaches and Exec for years. My fandom has irrational hope.
Really why should I care about Mills? I don't know him. I rooted for all the hires to work. I root for the knicks. I push back against the emotional thought that change will bring improvement. I'd rather think Mills makes mistakes and grows into the position than start fresh with Allan Houstan or Kiki Vandeweghe.
Sorry, the "Mills sucks balls" thing is easy, but replacement that is substantial is not. You guys want Ujiri or Presti and a the savior mentality that past performance will bring glory. Those guys had draft picks, assets and owners with vision.
Im all for anyting that gets the team going. Here, have your pick:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Execut...

Funny, in just few years Warkentein and Ujiri both win from Denver. I said previously Warkentein is still listed as on our staff. We had John Gabriel also on the payroll for years. It don't equate unless you have strong owner.
I supported Layden, Donnie, The Gruns: Wald and Feld!!!! And yes MIlls, Phils and Mills!!!!! I want knicks to succeed and know change is symptom of something bad happening. Thus, I'd rather something good instead!

nyknickzingis @ 12/21/2019 11:57 AM
I had seen enough of Randle to know he was not a good signing at that price.
Signed bench players for starter jobs.

On good teams, all the guys NYK signed are bench players. Overpaid starters on this team.

The players who I like on this team are all on rookie contracts, ironically. Robinson. Frank. I am not a big Knox or Barrett fan. I think we should sell on those guys as soon as possible. Pretty much this entire team can go to hell aside from Robinson and Frank. I would love for a fresh start next season with some players that actually fit in around Robinson, Frank or vice-versa some good starting level players that Frank and Mitch can compliment.

I happen to agree. The Knicks FO is loaded with talented individuals who were successful elsewhere and work hard here to improve the roster.

There's no magic touch. We still have the cap room from the Porzingis trades if we let the FA signings from last summer expire. We also have a couple of FRPs that have yet to play out.

More importantly we have a LOT of talented players who are a year or tow away from being NBA rock stars.

It snot a matter of patience, its a matter of enjoying the growing pains, ugly as they sometimes are.
