Knicks · Shooters in the draft (page 1)

I’m sick of other teams always having lights out shooters and not us. Assuming we target a playmaking guard in the lottery (Anthony, Edwards, Mannion, Haliburton) we need to find shooters later in the draft with picks acquired. We need to find our own Duncan Robinson or Joe Harris. There’s a few that could be incoming.

Jordan Nwora SF/PF Louisville- mid to late 1st
Aaron Nesmith SG/SF Vanderbilt- mid to late 1st (I predict his stock really climbs as far as lottery)
Devin Vassell SG/SF Florida st- late 1st/early 2nd
Aaron Henry SG Mich State - late 1st/early 2nd
Desmond Bane SG TCU- 2nd round
Myles Powell Combo guard Seton Hall- 2nd round

All these guys are gettable and can put the ball in the basket from deep. Our core starts with Barrett and Mitch so we need to grab quality shooters if we are ever going to get the most out of these guys.

Will have to check them out. A PG who can run the offense, and shoot would be ideal. And some shooting off the bench.

The PG who fits that criteria best is Mannion. And Haliburton is a close second.

I am looking at shooters as well. Not at the PG spot but the 2,3 and 4 should be knock down shooters. The PG needs to handle, drive and distribute. Sadly, that is the new NBA.

Not sure what has happened to players who play for Knicks but it seems like, shooting wise, almost every player is doing WORSE that career averages except Morris.

Knicks definitely are hurting without a normal Bullocks, Ellington available. Feel like both of those guys could have pushed RJ to bench role if they were thriving and opened up the court.

We need a stretch 4 terribly. Since Mitch can't shoot at all we need a frontcourt player that can stretch the floor. Also since Barrett is a miserable shooter our PG has to be able to knock down a shot.

We will probably fall to 8 or 9 in the draft and miss out on all the top tier PG's again.

I think there’s extra pressure playing for the knicks that makes some of these guys perform worse. Media, garden, nightlife, etc.

Been saying this forever, and it's not just veterans, the younger guys are even less focus with their new found riches in a city that never sleeps.

To be fair Marcus Morris is one of the best 3 point shooters in the entire league. He is shooting 46.6%. I know everyone wants to trade him but he is one of the only guys on the roster worth keeping. While I agree shooting is an issue it is nowhere near the biggest problem. The lack of a real playmaker is the teams biggest problem by a mile. Until the team invests in guards that can actually create offense all the shooters in the world won't matter

The draft isn’t looking good so far, unfortunately

We need mass shooters... like Melo... who will shoot massively...

I can actually appreciate the humor but still a bit much.

It's Russian style... coarse. Cultural differences in sense of humor are whiled...

Forget the draft. We need to hurry up, dump Ellington and bring this guy up. Like a mini Seth Curry out there.

SupremeCommander @ 1/6/2020 9:49 AM
I don't necessarily agree with targeting shooting specialists. I don't see guys like Craig Hodges having too much value in today's NBA - everyone needs to shoot. So with that in mind, I like the idea of drafting someone like Nwora who can shoot AND rebound. I think Fiz was onto something with 'positionless' basketball, he just didn't have Wade, James, and Bosh. 'Positionless' is the future of the NBA but that just means your SG can rebound a little and your C can hit a three. I hope that we stay away from drafting specialists and trading for the next Eddy Curry, and instead start looking for guys who area bit more complete.
