I don't think DSJ looks right, but I hope he appreciates the fact that he's been playing like crap. Earn the damn minutes. If he can't step up to the challenge of Elfrid and Frank, then he's not built for this city.

And that 15 and 5 was obviously the result of getting free reign on a bad team. I wasn't calling for a DSJ trade in the past, either. I wanted to see him build his value up. Morris and Randle would've been the best players on that Dallas team. They were bad who gave a rookie a free reign with the hope of snaring someone in free agency. I know, it sounds familiar
DSJ gave the right answers in the latest Post article, so who knows? But we extended the guys and gave him a bucketful of minutes that he didn't deserve. How is that giving up on a guy? If we're to believe reports, and I am doubtful of them, he's the one who's giving up. He needs to play better.

You promise? Frank was benched at the beginning of the season. Was on Fizdale's doghouse. Frank was the only healthy PG at one point and he didn't start. Got an 18 sec stint at one game. wow, surprised at Morris. Thought he had signed with the Knicks in part to be close to family in Philly but maybe that was just a part of it, looks like the $ and now playoffs are a priority. Makes sense.
I've come around on Julius a bit, wish he were more engaged on the defense but he has rounded out on offense. Only a small smattering of games but this is the player the Knicks thought they were signing. He is a power downhill player who can improve on 3pt shooting and not a power point forward.
I've come to not like Portis. His defense is atrocious and there is nothing special about his offense. Weird player to me who is bound to be a role player off bench but it's like he hasn't really embraced it yet. Way overpaid at $15M obviously. More like a mid level or less guy.

I do think management signed these guys hoping to catch lightening in a bottle and compete for a playoff spot or trade the 1 yr deals for picks at the deadline. The problem with this philosophy is it takes away developmental mins from our young players and its difficult to build an actual team with a bunch of 1 yr players who are gone in the summer or in feb.

Money and a ring, I imagine. Morris could stay in NY for the season, and put up numbers good enough for a big payday, somewhere. Not going to get a ring in NY anytime soon.

Not enough confidence in himself as well. Might be on to something because Smith jr wouldnt practice with the team in the offseason, including Payton. The kid has dealt with sone tough breaks. I dont blame an 18 year old for getting PO'd that he was told he was the franchiae player for the Mavs, and the next minute he's told something else. Doncic said they got along great. Wish Smith jr had approached the competition with other PGs differently. Different situation than in Dallas. Not going to win the number one spot that way. Seems like he's looking for a place where they will just hand it to him. We'll see.
