Knicks · Macri: Knicks will try to accommodate DSJ’s trade wish (page 3)

Why sign Ellington and Bullock when you still have a 2nd and 3rd yr player in Zo and Dot that need developing?
Back problems arw no joke (from personal experience) Signing Payton was insurance. Besides, if you see yourself as an elite PG, or an underrated one. A journeyman PG should be no threat to you in your third season in the league. Smith jr just got outplayed and outworked.
I think the moment the Knicks signed Payton, Smith lost some confidence in management. Call it weak minded, but it's a generational thing that I see with today's athletes. They would rather flee and find a team that will give them mins rather than stay and fight for a spot. I see it with the HS athletes today. Its unbelievable how many HS bb athletes I see transfer for better opportunities.
The athletes ain't the only one who are impatient. Under Dolan, we lack the proper patients to develop a plan and follow it all the way through. Sports fans have become impatient in terms of wanting to fire coaches, fire managememt and trade young players at the first sign adversity.
Not enough confidence in himself as well. Might be on to something because Smith jr wouldnt practice with the team in the offseason, including Payton. The kid has dealt with sone tough breaks. I dont blame an 18 year old for getting PO'd that he was told he was the franchiae player for the Mavs, and the next minute he's told something else. Doncic said they got along great. Wish Smith jr had approached the competition with other PGs differently. Different situation than in Dallas. Not going to win the number one spot that way. Seems like he's looking for a place where they will just hand it to him. We'll see.

Smith and Payton did meet up and practice. Frank is the only one who wasn't with the team. I agree that he's young and impatient, which should be expected. But I want him to make him arguments on the court, not through wishy washy leaks.

Smith did not practice with team, he admitted this himself. Frank was doing FIVB and couldn't.

I know Frank's reasoning. By practicing with the team did he mean literally showing up in Westchester, because there are clips of him working out with teammates?

There were Knicks offseason workouts that were team-based, Smith chose not to participate in those. He obviously played pickup with some of the guys from his team

Yeah I have to agree its not like we brought in a clear cut starter to tske the job. We broght in a fringe NBA starter to push these guys and they folded. Dennis Smith Jr. shouldn't care Payton was broght in. He should think he can beat him out

Btw, would anyone actually be surprised that players want out of such a great organization?
Question, we trade our unicorn for what the FO thought was a future difference maker (One who had a decent second half with us) and then you continue his development by signing every PG with a pair of sneakers? Injuries aside, what kind of plan did we have with this kid and how exactly did we follow through? Same goes for Knox, Trier and Frank(when Bullock takes his minutes). Are we going to sign 3 or 4 SG next year to help develop(take minutes from) RJ,
Our plan changes every 2 years. (Coaches every year) How does anyone think players want to be a part of such short sighted management that has no real plan nor sticks to one?
Back in the day a player had to prove he earned minutes. I know DSJ has been through a lot of adversity. But the good players, the so-called leaders at the point guard position play through it. I want a guy who sees a player like Payton signed on a one year deal and says eff it. Not a guy who cried when Luka Doncic comes in and accommodate his game or a guy who gets shook when a savvy vet comes in. I don't think DSJ looks right, but I hope he appreciates the fact that he's been playing like crap. Earn the damn minutes. If he can't step up to the challenge of Elfrid and Frank, then he's not built for this city.
So why didnt they give up on Frank?
Didn't they try to trade Frank?
All the Knicks guards on the roster should be upset at the inexperience rookie RJ Barrets minutes in the last 33 Knicks games .. The Knicks most minute played player look like the Knicks were only developing RJ Barrett & Randle in their (9-24) game record SMH !!!
Knick fans are not in a rush-rush to see Mills/Perry make a trade any time soon!
Especially, after the KP trade, and the poor sorry job the coaching-staff did throughout the 2018-19 season toward 8 or 9 young-core Knick players which made KP want out of the Knicks organization.
DSJ was expecting a play-calling head coach like Mavs coach Carlisle when he joined the Knicks ..
DSJ got coach David Fizdale SMH .. lol
Last season DSJ had to run coach Carlisle's plays with DeAndre Jordan in Fizdale's isolation-offense to look decent.
DSJ/Frank/Trier/and Payton are in need of a coach like Jason Kidd, or Mark Jackson to spend some time on their creativeness to make a few half-court scoring plays for teammates. Coach Miller, nor any of his coaching-staff could really help the guards or young-core players.
Am I wrong, for wanting Mills/Perry to give DeAdre Jordan a extension-contract when DJ presence on the Knicks were lifting both our Rookies Knox & MitchRob performance last season?

DS had many chances and has looked so bad its almost weird
But he looked so good at the YMCA pickup game. How could it all have gone so wrong so fast?

What?
Is this one of those Superman Bizarro World bits of advice?
I can't even parse this stuff.
Mark Jackson...
Some of you are really making intense acquisitions based on blogs which are no more than what we are doing ourselves. Most blogs cite articles as sources then project an opinion on it. I stopped reading blogs as most are not good. Sounding like an authority does not make you one.

I did say "most are not good". I like the breakdowns of "knicks film school". If find if I read credentialed media and watch the games I can draw my own conclusions and most of you pretty good at bringing good thoughts and perhaps blog thoughts to the surface. Some are just redundant hype that are little more than noisy baitclicks.
Most of us are not typical fans either.

Seeing is believing. His value is he's someone else's Mudiay. How able Smith/Dotson for Malik Monk? I dont see us resigning Dotson and I think Bullock is better and will take his minutes anyway. This gives us a look at Monk. Something like that. I dont even like Malik Monk, its just a random example of liking someone else's crap more than your own.
Maybe the goal with Smith should simply be get a player that wants to be here. You look at Elf's #s and you think what NBA play PG isnt thinking he can come in and do some things...
