So tragic. Those 4 plus the pilot. NBA has to have a day of mourning!

I hope they cancel some games, these players must be stunned. I know the Spurs-Raptors game weren’t ahead but it must be so tough for them to focus

TMZ is saying his daughter was on the helicopter.
This is really heart breaking
Many sides to Kobe. Young protoge, Mamba, Champion, Father, Son, Husband, Oscar winning producer, Adulterer, MVP, Rapist, and public figure. He lived it in the public eye and like most of us life taught us the lessons and men we become. Doing it so publically is never easy. A man, flawed like most of us but also we saw some redemption. Shocking when a public figure is taken in the prime of life. When Thurman Munson died I felt an emptiness. Wealth brings priviledge and a helicopter to beat traffic is a luxury. Similar as was when Munson perished who owned his own jet. He wanted to spend more time with his family. Kobe was with his daughter. So empty to lose men of stature so unessisarily and even worse a child. I have lost family members to small craft crashing that scars us forever every day. It was uncessisary but we learn people have a destiny and moving fast is part of it. We all do it. Maybe drive a bit aggressively, cross at a traffic light when it says "Don't Walk", etc.........Its sad and devistating. I hope he and his dad found their peace.
None of us knew him personally but we grew up as basketball fans and he was a cultural icon. Sad day for sure.
This is insane

, tough tough one to take. Had to call up my loved ones and tell them I loved them. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.
Outside and inside of Garden is lit in purple and gold.
This shit actually had me crying man. It is crazy man. Kobe was a real superstar on that level that only maybe 10-20 people in the world have ever achieved. To be considered to best player in the world at your sport and to be one of the top-10 to ever play and then to die so young in such a random way. It is just a sad day for the world man.
Horrible day. So tragic. To have a legend die at such a young age and then to hear that a child was also tragically taken, absolutely heartbreaking. Life has a way of reminding us of the things that truly matter. Blessed are those that live through an entire life escaping tragedy and life altering illnesses within their families. Prayers go out to all of the families dealing with such a tragic loss. RIP
This is the most shocking news I've ever received. It doesn't feel real.
I have no words for this. Truly horrific and awful. Depressing.
Rest in Peace, legend. Rest in peace, Gianna.
This story gets worse and worse. Now 9 confirmed dead. It appears more of Gianna’s teammates possibly perished. This is just too much

Just awful.
I am stunned, what a horrific tragedy. RIP Kobe, Gianna, and all the others who perished.
So sad

Damn
I am in India visiting my parents. Just woke up and saw this, my wife texted me.
Totally shocked - no words.
Gets sadder and sadder as the day gets older and reality settles on.

Yeah it gradually got worse. First you find out that he died and can’t really process it, the the possibly that his daughter was on it which was horrendous, then find out that the death toll went from 5 to 9. Just too much
