Just my 2 cents... rather than asking fans to discontinue this nickname out of respect to Kobe, he should wear the name with pride and honor it by working to improve his game to be worthy of the moniker.

Its for fans to decide not for him...
So he now has no chance but get better.
I thought he simply dropped it. Why would he ask the fans unless he’s legitimately torn. I just say keep it.
If he does not want to be referred to by moniker, that is his choice. However, it is ultimately up to fans as to what we call him. Given Kobe’s tragic death, I understand his concern about any appearance of disrespect but he should just focus on living up to that title and things will work themselves out.
Its a compliment to him but really its not marketable as an extension from “Mamba”. Be like A short player calling himself “Lil’ Clyde”. OR Nash “Canadian Clyde”. One Clyde, one Mamba. It as cute.
RJ has yet to establish his personality. His name will evolve from his game.
