GSW are actually smoking DICK. In what universe do I give up my future starting center and NBA ALL defense on a great contract and our pick for Russell. I come back with a lower offer.
do you mean lower than what we have apparently already offered?
Because if they asked me for that, I'd reply - you do know that Isiah isn't our GM anymore? Call me when you get real.
Clearly, if this is true, they aren't looking to make a deal.

Fuck that shit. That's too much.
It's negotiating. You don't know what you can get unless you throw it out there. Who knows what Pills will agree to. They are desperate. Interesting tho. One poster here thinks Mitch isn't good, but teams appear to still want him.
This is proof we have no long term strategy and have just switched to saving Mills ass! How have we gone from ‘oh we won’t sign players to max deals who don’t deserve it’ (ie aren’t KD) to ‘we won’t only happily pay a max contract we will also give up young players and picks too’. Just pathetic, typical knicks

But your getting back a 23 yr old all star..
Until Mitch gets a perimeter game, he's just a shot blocker that your not winning with, we could sign Harrel in the off season to substitute Mitch's loss.
The fact that Your 2nd round pick has more value than your lottery picks, says a lot about how we draft and develop. The package is the knicks trash
If you want a real PG your going to have to pay, or the knicks can continue their 20 yr search
Mills is at the poker table now wondering where all the suckers are...
we are going to get fleeced by GS
I agree with Fishmike. No disrespect to D.RUssel but price is way tooo high and stinks of desperation. Think about it. Why is GS looking to get rid of him.

Jokic has more value than 90%, and I'm low balling here, of the players in the NBA. Does that say anything about how they draft and develop talent?

it just feels like any Russell trade gets us played. Im not crazy attached to anyone on the roster but there are some guys you want to hang on to.
Mitch and Frank are the only guys who play D... so makes sense well trade them first
Ug.. this is a rough time to be a Knick fan. Its so scary! Halp!

First off that’s way to much to give up for a player with questionable play making ability and bad defense... this isn’t Brooklyn he’ll get eaten up by the NYK media for his lack luster play . Again portis, payton and our first otherwise hang up the phone

Stupid Idiotic Trade !!!
The past 2 seasons D.Russell performance showed he is a SG having combo-guard skills.
Putting D.Lo in a lineup with RJ Barrett is the same as the lineup of Trier & RJ Barrett.
I think /hope he goes to the twolves

Maybe this is what Mills is sad about if he is indeed upset at all.
I like Russell a lot but giving up a big AND an unprotected first is a no go for me. Not worth that much.

Dude when your a bad franchise, your going to over pay one way or the other. We didn't over pay any Stars, but we overpaid for every single player we signed,
You can go ahead and gamble that you will get your PG in the draft, but how has that gone in the last 10 drafts that included 4 top 10.
None of the players mention have helped this team win consistently, and the way they are being used and developed, Do you really see a bright future with them.
We are going to have to sacrifice in order to get better because were are not a FA destination, and were are not very good at drafting, and our luck sucks big time..The player we need or want usually gets picked ahead of us or behind.
Lets not get mad....nobody been traded yet.
Lets break it down. GSW really care about 10m in taxes? Really? This is about rounding out the roster for next year. Still got a core of Green, Klay and steph. Portis is cap fodder at 15mm. Payton is also. Both are NBA players, but frank is The only value here.
You look at it as Russell at age 23 going to be better than anyone we draft this year? If you do then you give up the pick. Not sure what Warriors do that for because they are in win mode now. Does Knox win you now? Even Mitch don't, but that's not the point. Morris wins you now,, and Add Randle on that team you win now.
But Morris is a free agent and I don't have the imagination for Randle on the GSW.
But.......I do the Portis, Frank, Payton thing, give them a Dallas pick and they can swap with us this year so we take the lower of two picks. Could go 1-2.
If we don't think there is a player better than Russell than give them the pick but I keep frank and give them DSJ. Why?
I'm Gumby dammit! That's why!
In the end none of this shyt happens and we all get mad.
smackeddog wrote:BigDaddyG wrote:
Hope we don’t cave in, suspect we will
Fuck that!! With so many point guards in the draft, we should be looking to get picks for Morris or Randle. And some 2nd's for Portis, Taj, Payton, Ellington and Bullock. Hope the Knioks FO is not as dumb as I fear. GS has limited options. They are looking to clear Cap Space and may realize Russell will not fit or worth the investment. Teams like that know full well it will cost them to get rid of such a contract.
Please pass on Russell
let's not forget for most of his career he under performed and was immature. I don't think it's a surprise he was in the KD package over Caris or Dinwiddie
our FO is both dumb and desperate
BigDaddyG wrote:jskinny35 wrote:I think D.Russell has some strengths that would help - he is a solid outside shooter, he does seem to have the capability to take over in pressure situations. Of course he plays little defense, has that lockeroom incident (back on Lakers) which could be indication he's not great for chemistry. He would pair well next to RJ or Frank. Assuming he's considered better then the PG's available picking 4-6 (Knick luck) - I think this is the most I could live with...Portis, Knox, Trier, Payton or Frank, Dallas 1st rounder (they could also take Randle and/or DSJr in some combination if that helps)
We could then trade DSJr to Minn (who may be more motivated if they miss out on DR) to pick up another asset.
Russell does push the ball, but he's not really a guy who can get to the rim. That's the type of PG we need. But he is a creator. I just don't feel comfortable with a lame FO making this move. Plus, that's a huge percentage of the cap space to invest. I think we should probably be facilitators at this point.
Good Point. Don't know if anyone has made this point but why the fuck would the Knicks do this deal? Considering they had the opportunity to get him in the summer and save assets? Because he did not want to come here? Then why force him here? Would be just another dumb fuck up move with these idiots.

This. At least Kyrie and a healthy KD puts us on the map to win. Getting Russell to pair up with Randle makes us last years Nets.

How has that 23 year old star helped GS this year? Do we have better complimentary pieces than they do? Point is, a deal giving up this many assets for a guy they are looking to dump to get under the luxury is a desperate move. Yes, Russell is a solid player but why not go after him this past summer when we did not have to give up all these assets? Think we can use those assets in a better way.

Agree about Mitch. No way Frank can be classified as having the same impact. Would not mind including him for D Russ. Unfortunately Frank has had 3 Years to improve and become an impact player. Smith and Allen held Brogdon to minimal points and low shooting percentage on Saturday. Not exactly great defenders but they did a good job.
We also held a good team to 85 points. Yet no Frank. Would actually like to keep Dotson over Frank. He has shown improvement year over year and seems to impact a game more. However, if given a choice, would rather keep all the youngins. Plan should be to trade all vets to win now teams. Except for maybe Morris unless we can get a first for him. GS is putting on the poker face. Only desperate teams looking to do some damage in the playoffs would offer this many assets and a first for DRuss.

True. Maybe he stormed out when fat Dolan said he would not approve any deals. Until he hires a new Prez and GM. We can only hope.
