The past 2 seasons D.Russell performance showed he is a SG having combo-guard skills.
Putting D.Lo in a lineup with RJ Barrett is the same as the lineup of Trier & RJ Barrett.Maybe this is what Mills is sad about if he is indeed upset at all.
I like Russell a lot but giving up a big AND an unprotected first is a no go for me. Not worth that much.
True. Maybe he stormed out when fat Dolan said he would not approve any deals. Until he hires a new Prez and GM. We can only hope.
HofstraBBall wrote:fishmike wrote:Chandler wrote:Mills is at the poker table now wondering where all the suckers are...we are going to get fleeced by GS
I agree with Fishmike. No disrespect to D.RUssel but price is way tooo high and stinks of desperation. Think about it. Why is GS looking to get rid of him.
it just feels like any Russell trade gets us played. Im not crazy attached to anyone on the roster but there are some guys you want to hang on to.Mitch and Frank are the only guys who play D... so makes sense well trade them first
Ug.. this is a rough time to be a Knick fan. Its so scary! Halp!
Agree about Mitch. No way Frank can be classified as having the same impact. Would not mind including him for D Russ. Unfortunately Frank has had 3 Years to improve and become an impact player. Smith and Allen held Brogdon to minimal points and low shooting percentage on Saturday. Not exactly great defenders but they did a good job.
We also held a good team to 85 points. Yet no Frank. Would actually like to keep Dotson over Frank. He has shown improvement year over year and seems to impact a game more. However, if given a choice, would rather keep all the youngins. Plan should be to trade all vets to win now teams. Except for maybe Morris unless we can get a first for him. GS is putting on the poker face. Only desperate teams looking to do some damage in the playoffs would offer this many assets and a first for DRuss.
For me both have similar impact on D and Frank much smarter at it. Man defense so hard to gauge.

Was talking about all around impact. Mitch can do it with his rebounding, blocks AND offense.

Until Mitch gets a perimeter game, he's just a shot blocker that your not winning with, we could sign Harrel in the off season to substitute Mitch's loss.
The fact that Your 2nd round pick has more value than your lottery picks, says a lot about how we draft and develop. The package is the knicks trash
If you want a real PG your going to have to pay, or the knicks can continue their 20 yr search
How has that 23 year old star helped GS this year? Do we have better complimentary pieces than they do? Point is, a deal giving up this many assets for a guy they are looking to dump to get under the luxury is a desperate move. Yes, Russell is a solid player but why not go after him this past summer when we did not have to give up all these assets? Think we can use those assets in a better way.
KD made that trade happen by not leaving the GSW high and dry. Everybody on the planet knew that THE GSW had no plans to keep Russell long term. He never made it to FA, so the knick never had a shot,
he Golden State Warriors have acquired guard D’Angelo Russell, along with guard Shabazz Napier and forward Treveon Graham, in a sign-and-trade transaction that sent free agent forward Kevin Durant and a protected first round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets,
People keep saying we can get a pg in the draft, do i need to post the list of the last 10 pg the knicks drafted, signed,or traded for. Not one is even close to Russell,
Morris and Randle are better than any player on GSW not name curry or klay..
Morris, Randle, RJ, Russell is a good start at getting out of laughing stock
Russ got more money by going to GSW.
He was immature, until he matured. Thats how it works.
Watching the Game tonite its as DSjr best showing, frank off the ball was clutch, and Knox himself a good game.
Randle not bombing was tough inside.
Sure its the Cavs, but we just won 2nd in a row on the road.
Rozier vs. Russell?
Starphuch Trade deadline dreaming. Not the time to rebuild the franchise. Or is it?

For me, Mitch uses his athleticism and length on defense but Frank uses his length and IQ on defense and this is a good example of it. No way Mitch makes the rotations like this and Frank does this all the time.

I’d be super pissed if we moved frank he’s our best defensive player and a future stud esp off the bench. We are not that far off. You can see Miller building this team’s chemistry. It’s a shame he wasn’t coaching from the beginning of the year.

Can you post DSJ and Payton's numbers tonight, or are we going to ignore the game those two had?
Read about the threads, some are super stoked about Dennis surge to what he was.
Truth be told, I’d just as soon not make any big deals.
Really, I loved that Frank and Dennis in the back court. This was the hope at seasons start.
frank/Ellington
Dennis/Payton
Morris/RJ
Taj/mitch
Randle/Portis.
That was the plan. Shyt happens.
Now we know why Dennis is being coveted. Perhaps We should stick with plan A? Fiz is gone.

SMH..
The raptors fans were livid after Massi Gambled big time on trading for kawhi, and look what happen.
You call that a HIGH risk High Reward investment
You guys want to get good without sacrificing, you want to keep cap space, but yet No one seems to want to play here, you want to keep young guys that are not that talented, but in the next sentencing talk about needing more talent, you only want to acquire two way players with the perfect contract, but overlook the (one dimensional/limited skills) players we draft, or the 2nd tier talent we over pay.
You cant win around here....
There are some that think there's this awesome Morris trade that will net us a nice first round pick and 15 mill worth of expiring contracts in return...
Never mind is priceless leadership that everyone on the roster and FO has been praising..

Wanted us to draft Russell, do worry about his cap hit though. Agree he would improve the backcourt.
Believe he would work well with Barrett. Dont want to give up Mitch however. Does more than block shots, one of the best offensive rebounders as well. Tough player to replace with all of his intagibles.
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warrio...
The Timberwolves reportedly have been asking for two first-round picks in exchange for Covington, and according to O'Connor, that has everything to do with their pursuit of Russell. It's possible Golden State would also be interested in a package including one first-rounder and a young player, and as O'Connor summarized, "there’s a deal to be made for Russell if the Wolves can come up with enough assets and don’t protect their own first-round pick."
If that were the case, Id offer Smith jr, and a first rounder from the Dallas trade. They would get back a PG who looks like he is turning the corner. Would make a good backup to Curry.
its a tough business for sure! If have to pick one or the other, Dennis vs. Frank its a tough one. Dennis has the easy to see upside by the physicality of him able to sustain is hard to gauge. He has a thick build, kind of a mini Zion. Reminds me of Baron Davis. Frank on the other hand has the length, defensive chops and brings a totally different game. As he matures and gains strength there might be still tall ceiling.
The fan in me wants to keep both and play them together, move RJ to the 3, trade Morris and use a late 1st round from that trade moving Portis, Knox and that 1st round (or the protected Dallas) for Russell. Not might not be enough. Minny can counter but likely wants to move Wiggins.
I'm a fan, not the GM.

Yep.
He isn't the greatest at creating for his teammates based on assist ratio numbers. He's more of a scoring guard than a point, and I'm not convinced he's worth it.
I get that the draft is iffy this year, but I also heard on Knicks Film School that there have been very few point guards on highly successful teams in the past 10 years who have been high percentage of salary cap. There are really few PG's who've led teams to success who aren't Steph Curry.
Forget about just immediately following the trade, the reality is he's being paid quite a lot and would be the highest paid in the near future.
It's too much to pay a player that's not convincing as a real lead player on a good team.
How are the Warriors doing again? Oh right. The Nets had other pieces as can be evidenced by how they are doing this year without KD and with/without Kyrie.
It rings too similar to Marbury.

Thought that was a given. Does that change the fact Mitch has more impact? Which speaks to the real point which is that Mitch has a higher value. Relating to thread topic. But I get your point. Frank is a good defender. So would you not do a deal that oncludea Frank amd aome fillers for Russell? Imo, no matter how many preach the magical word of defense when praising Frank, stats, three years of NBA performance has not been much to impress many others. Unfortunately, GS feels the same. Reason why they asked for Mitch.

Russell was good enough to lead the Nets to the playoffs without being star driven. mostly journeymen. As well as make the all star team that year. Room for improvement, but Russell already has shown he can get his team to punch above their weight.

wait a minute, KNICKS FILM SCHOOL
what about Lowry, Kyrie, steph, all three are all star pg's the won the last 3 titles..
Russel would just be one piece of a puzzle, not the whole puzzle, Now you have your back court in order with Russell an RJ..you keep Randle and Morris, and ADD harrel in the off season
Russel
RJ
Morris
Randle
Harrel
Thats a good mix of vets and young players that can run or play half court..
Your signing Morris and Harrel to 2 yr contract deals, neither one are max players, so they wont expect 4 yr deals..
