Knicks · If we trade Morris, the deal we need to make is... (page 1)

Morris to the Clippers for Shamet, Harkless and their 2020 1st round pick.

I would even throw in our 2nd rounder to make that happen, or move Dennis Smith to a third team to get an additional 2nd round pick to move to the clippers. Shamet is the perfect young prospect to place on the wing opposite of Barrett. He's 22 years old, can really shoot it, and can handle the ball a little. Getting a late first rounder isn't enough for Morris, you need a young player who is proven enough to be a good longterm starter and fits with the current young core. Shamet is probably the most realistic player that makes sense. You can play Shamet and Barrett at the 2 and 3 with a tradition PG, or play them at the 1 and 2 in bigger lineups. For those still high on Ntilikina, a lineup consisting of Ntilikina, Shamet and Barrett at the 1, 2, and 3 makes a ton of sense. If you add a PG like Haliburton in the draft a core group of Barrett, Mitch, Shamet, and Haliburton (and Knox and Ntilikina to a lesser extent) is a young core we can really get behind.

Rumors out there today that Knicks are in talks with the Lakers - Morris for Kuzma being the principles of a potential deal.

Kuzma sucks and he's a FA. ok he's signed through next year. Pass. The Clippers deal would be great and really help them.

Feels good, Fish! We have someone in the front office who seems to know what he is doing. Has a plan and is following through...That Clippers trade would be nice.

NYKBocker @ 2/5/2020 10:17 AM
Yup. The Clippers deal if true is the best one.

I like Perry's track record and the teams he's been a part of. Not all huge success stories but you do what you can do with what you got. We could really just use some competent FO moves. Fingers crossed the next 24 hours are good

I hope that this proves to be something to get excited about. I will say I would rather Perry call the shots. that said, the next pres will probably want to install his own GM. So from that aspect, it feels like Phil drafting only to get shown the door soon there after

yup... one can never trust or count on Dolan to do right, as he never has. We are all hoping for blind luck and based on the amount of misses we are due

Hopefully this is just a play it straight. Team is bad, you gotta play the young guys and get any assets you can to build. Hopefully they can get something good for Morris and maybe take on contract with an extra year and another asset to get a team out of luxury etc... We'll see. Pretty sure you and I could make some decent moves with a phone list and the realgm trade checker

from what I'm reading, the knicks are loking to trade Knox and Frank for Russell. They are looking to trade Morris for Kuzma.

a lineup of:
Russell
Barrett
Kuzma
Randle
Mitch

probably doesn't win many more games than we have this year - but - I would be way more enthusiastic about the team's future

TPercy @ 2/5/2020 11:07 AM
Haliburton/Frank
Shamet/Bullock
Barrett/1st pick
Randle/Knox
C/Mitch

with up to 54 million in cap space is great position to be in. Wish this FA class was good but some pretty decent options out there. Fournier, Gallo, Drummond, Bertans, Baynes and even Morris again. I'd make a run at Drummond on a 3 year deal then use remaining for a shooter on a short term deal in the starting lineup and have Barrett coming coming off the bench as 6th man. Likely get 35 wins next year and keep building from there.

0 outside shooting on that team outside of Russell. I'd be very sad.

Chandler @ 2/5/2020 11:22 AM

the two LA teams should get in a bidding war -- they each could benefit from Morris as could several others (won't re-post my earlier list)

Get assets for him. DOn't trade our young guys -- at least not now. Wait for a competent and complete FO before trading young guys

This is what I have in mind but with Mitch starting. Eventually we move on from Randle and add more shooting to the lineup but it's a start.

Or you move Randle, Mitch and Russell for Towns and pair him with RJ and a guard from this years draft

Dolan must be glad to hear it. Glad Perry is running this. He got us a decent haul for Melo, who needed a year off, he was so spent. Believe he's a better estimator of value than Mills. More value in trading Morris.

Mills seemed to operate on Dolan's desire to suck up to agents and hanger ons. Seeing this process play is giving me little hope. Dolan is getting advice from former rap moguls, agents....everyone but legitimate basketball people. I would give a first-round pick to bring Jerry West just so he can mollywop Dolan everytime he gets into one of his moods
