Good opportunity to tune his game up or will playing time open up with Morris gone?

why knox, Mitch, or frank never set foot in the GL is everybody's million dollar question..These dudes have been struggling major with their confidence..
So many players around the league and have been sent down and came back balling
Getting minutes with big club is better than getting inflated numbers in the G-League, although beating up on inferior competition could help his confidence. I'd let Knox try to work things out here. As for Iggy
.. it's time. Unless you think those developmental minutes should go to Mow Harmless.

For Iggy... it's time to what? Take minutes from whom? Knox?
Team still trying to win games too.
It's a delicate balance.

What Mith will do in GL.. Dunk on some fools?
He will destroy the GL competition.
What will Frank do. Go aggravating his groin for no reason?
Knox may use more minutes but I doubt the demotion will add any more confidence.
Knicks need to release Ellington and Portis. It's time.

The more minutes and consistency thing for Knox is the only thing that rings true for me.
Mitch dunking on dudes is absolutely right. He does that already and this year it seems he is learning drop defense on PnR, best he keep doing that. He just needs to SHOOT THE BALL

It's time to bring him up. I assume Harmless and Ellington will be bought out soon. The deadline for buyouts and waivers to have playoff eligibility comes up in a few weeks. I still believe you gain more simply practicing with the big club than beating up on dudes in the G-League. Iggy is clearly showing he's above that level. Does he take minutes away from Knox? It's unlikely. But I won't complain if performs so well that it becomes a possibility.
If Knox goes down and lights it up, you bring him back?
Has Iggy really gotten that much better in a few weeks? Iggy did not look good in the NBA.
Is Knox all downtrodden an unconfident or has knick coaching asking him to rebound and improve his defense? Cuz that's what I see him focused on.
what about his drives to the rim? Has he become more efficient on those shots vs. last year? I read he has.
Knicks are succeeding on balanced scoring, ball movement, and defense. Bit issue is a closer. Randle is not a shot creator. We can blast him all day long for his turnovers but is he improving as season goes along.
I see this team improving nearly week to week. Not enough that it all shows up in the win total but Miller is doing a great job!

So you think the knicks are doing a great job developing knox and frank, because those numbers martin just posted says otherwise...and you think thats the best route
So the G leauge is good for guys like Van Fleet and pascal, but not for knox and frank..
pascal went from 7 ppg, did one season in g league, game back ave almost 17ppg and was a major factor in them winning a ring..
As much as it might hurt from a pride standpoint (I'm NBA talent, damn it!), these guys need real game action to reinforce what they work on in practice.
There's nothing like reading and reacting against live competition.
Also note that in the G-league, the most dedicated players there are scraping and clawing for their livelihood. The competition is real and they want to win too!

Paskal and Fred are clearly more talented than Kevin and Frank. Also, how is the G-League helping Josh Jackson or Josh Selby or Ivan Rabb. Fred and Pascal weren't in the rotation when they were sent down. Frank and Knox are getting minutes.
And Pascal Siakam now looks like a pretty good bet for a max contract.
I had him pegged as some generic bench guy backing up Serge Ibaka last year, but he stole the starting job from him and was every bit as important as Leonard in last year's championship run.
Siakam's rise is a bit of an outlier... but so is magically evolving from a bit player to something more without quality PT.

It depends. I think getting smoked by Mook in practice everyday is way more valuable than getting 30 on some fringe dude from D2. I realize the competition is real, but the talent, for the most part, is not. There is no real answer, I guess. Depends on the situation and player.

Playing against guys 10x better than you is not a always a good way to get better, or everybody would skip college and the G league would be a waste of time.
I bet you any amount of money that if iggy is here next season, he will be better than knox
The assumption is had Siakim not gone to the Gleague he would not have improved? That's a tall order.
In simple assumption made then that all underperforming high draft pick players should go to gleague.

Yes, depends on the player and situation. Trevor Ariza credited his improvement to getting smoked by Kobe every day in practice. It's not a zero sum game.
I would say the Knicks need to be a meritocracy and, if were to actually happen, Knox should go to the dleague and Iggy should join the big club

I wonder who gets bought out. Ellington is suddenly playing well and might be seen as a trade chip this offseason. Not sure if his value is enough to keep around for that but his situation has changed a bit with his improved play. Harkless is a NY native and has said he wanted to play for the Knicks. Do you buy that guy out? Also, I think Portis should be bought out. Not sure if his coming out and saying he won't quit on the Knicks changes that.

Harkless ( my spell check keeps wanting to call him Harmless hahaha) said the right thing. But the reality is were probably not re-signing him and he doesn't fit with this roster. I'm sure Wayne's improved play would be reason enough for him to force a buyout. His value to contending teams won't get higher. I agree Portis should get bought out, but I see no real harm in keeping him. It's not like he's blocking Mitchell's development right now.

The Raptors organization has a strong top down program. I think the Knicks had a good developmental thing going in Westchester with Miller. I haven't paid as much attention to Westchester this year so I don't know. I think Frank definitely should have gone. It was recommended in his scouting report going into the draft. The schedule is lighter, the lights aren't as bright, transitioning to a new country and being a point guard full time was a lot to take on.

I guess you can look at it as every player responds different.. Knox doesn't play with a high amount of energy consistently and his IQ is low as hell...plus whatever it is we are doing with him right now, it's pretty safe to say, IT AIN'T WORKING, time to try something different
Frank can't shoot, and it's pretty embarrassing to be in the league for 3 yrs getting consistent minutes and haven't scored more than 18 points ( and he's only done that twice) in any of the close to 200 games he's played in...
All mitch can do is dunk on the offense end, in this DAY and AGE where centers are shooting like guards on a normal bases, he's scared to death to shoot a jumper regardless to how open he is(just 5 jumpers in 116 games played)
If these are not grounds for G league stints, it's no wonder we are far behind the rest of the NBA in the development dept..
