Wow. Thought he would never leave there.

I wouldn't mind him as coach seem like out box hire and more then willing take a chance on jay wright.
OMFG - if we got JAy Wright I would be so stoked. Of course the roster will probably be shit and Jay will get fired after 30 games because we didn't win a championship, but yeah I am happy to hear that. Jay is the best coach in college basketball IMHO

You can't over coach a crap roster lol You could bring Pat Riley here and I'll remain skeptical.

I expect 80% of this roster will be purged.
The draft is weak as hell, and none of the top 5 are game changers even at their very best. Most of them have been injured, or playing on bum squads, so they are coming in with losing mentalities.

I really don't understand the views of some people. So black and white.
Id rather see Miller get a full season as HC, already seen he can win games, under difficult circumstances. Wright however isnt a retread from the Knicks good old days. A hire thats more about hype than wins. Id be ok with Wright getting the job. As long as its new blood.
No thanks, not every college coach is brad stevens..
food for thought: guy has won 2 championships mostly with lesser talent, guys late in first or second round
compare that with Calipari who stuffs the lottery pretty routinely and has one, or Pitino who also has two and again often with loaded teams
I have no idea if his game will translate, but am pretty excited that he has been able to beat more athletic, talented teams through smart team play
I could get behind this pick 10x more than Jackson, JVG -- mediocre/quitters.
Failing something like this, I like Miller

Pitino was a college coach who got the Knicks back on the road to relevance. Doesnt have to be Brad Stevens or bust. Wright would be a candidate.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about going into the season with the team president, GM and coach all being in their NBA roles for the first time. However I don't think we'd make a decision on the new coach until the offseason (especially not before we have a GM), So I don't believe these reports (timing makes no sense)
Jay is charismatic, handsome and will help with corp sponsorships and public speaking. I’d rather a guy like Miller but knicks are an entertainment company and NYC savvy is a big deal. Bring in a college coach and let him grow into the role as pro. These guys can always go back to college if it does not work out in the nBA.
As for GM, Cho is experienced as is Perry.

+1
Honest question: Why would he be different from the likes of Belein and Hoiberg?
Jay Wright is one of if not the best college coach in the country...He does an excellent job of developing his players and squeezing every ounce of potential out of them. He has won championships with players that weren't McDonalds all americans, and has dominated the Big East. I have a couple of his practice/coaching clinic DVDS and he is awesome.
He would be a great, great hire.

This....Which is why I never brought his name up. He is by far the best name I've heard attached to the coaching search....
TPercy wrote:Honest question: Why would he be different from the likes of Belein and Hoiberg?
he has chips?
You might be right though. In fact, you can indict every college coach that did not succeed. Is an NBA chip the only metric? Did Billy Donovan Fail? Bill Fitch? Larry Brown? Dr Jack Ramsey, Dick Motta, Paul Westhead, chuck Daly...........The list is longer. Sometimes its the fit, not just the coach. PItino with knicks then failed i Boston. Why???
I’m not going to guarantee Jay Wright will succeed. Handsome Jay is 58. He is a philly guy and 76ers job might open up. Knicks will pay. He’ll have a honeymoon period to acclimate. With 76ers he’ll be jumping in the fire.

what if Jay Wright works out like Brad Stevens?
