Knicks · Spike Lee taking a blowtorch to Dolan (page 1)

On First Take. Used employee entrance for 28 years. Dolan changed the policy with no warning. Lee had a dustup with security.

Lee was really upset. Brought up Oakley, no chip since the 70s, no Leon Rose press conference. Said they denied him the use of a ramp at MSG without notice. Curious timing with Rose entering the picture at the same time. They talked about the timing, drew no conclusions. Really weird move by Dolan, even for him

You think Dolan was personally involved in this type of decision?

For me this is much ado about nothing

Who cares? Does anyone care what entrance any celeb fans enter for other teams? Why is someone getting p***ed off news?

Lee said that he was going to stay quiet about what happened until MSG put out a statement that Lee said was fiction. Lee said that he was told by Dolan "now you know". Almost 30 years as a season ticket holder, after the Oakley fiasco, seems like a self inflicted wound. Lee brought up how missteps like this dont help recruiting. Lee is popular with the players.

Heard the same thing about Oakley. Security giving another black man a hard time. Not a good look. Something Dolan should "give a shit about" if he's serious about rebranding. All they had to do was call him.

On Yahoo sports

Lee did make it into the arena and was in his seat at game time. The New York Daily News reported that James Dolan, owner of the Knicks and Madison Square Garden, came down to clear the air with Lee at halftime, and that Lee was no longer angry. Lee then got to watch his beloved Knicks improbably beat the surging Rockets, so the night could have definitely ended worse.

On CBS sports:

"I'm being harassed by James Dolan, and I don't know why," Lee said. "How is it the wrong entrance if I've been using the same entrance for 28 years! It's Garden spin!"
Lee explained what happened last night at the Knicks game that turned into a viral video on Twitter. The director said that after entering the employee entrance to MSG and getting his ticket scanned, security told him that he had to leave the arena and enter on the other side. Lee said Knicks owner James Dolan approached Lee at halftime saying the two needed to talk, but Lee did not want to hear what he had to say.

If you don’t want the hear the man out..........then what’s up with that?

Better question is why the need for the sudden policy change? MSG could have written to Lee, email, text, oe called him. They couldnt extend that small courtesy to a 28 year season ticket holder who has promoted the Knicks brand in his films and music videos? Really?

Last but not least, they could have told Lee that due to a policy change it would be the last time he could use that entrance. Instead they tried to make him leave MSG, and go to another entrance with a punched ticket. You dont see that as very disrespectful? I do.

You guys defending Dolan deserve the New York Losers. Spike Lee being harassed is indicative of how pathetic James Dolan and the Knicks are as an organization. James Dolan made up things in the press release. He is what Dolan thinks of Knick's fans. James Dolan thinks you're garbage. He laughs at people who support the team, and will continue having a loser for a team. You support it, you deserve it.

Spike is the most recognized Knicks fan. Why the Knicks are getting into a dispute over what entrance he uses is like the dumbest thing I have ever heard. This dude has done documentaries for the Knicks. He is essentially an employee. It never should have been an issue and even if it were an issue, some one from the front office should have talked to Lee in person about the issue directly before demanding that he leave and renter MSG. At a time when the Knicks are trying to change their image, they go and make a unforced error over nothing. Just dumb.

what's wild is I'm on Dolan's side yet he still fucked it up. Why are you going to pick a fight with a customer on the internet?
BigDaddyG @ 3/3/2020 1:39 PM
Waah! Waah! I'm ultra important and can't just suck it up and go to another entrance! This reminds me of the Ethan Hawke BS. A super entitled celebrity making a big thing out of nothing. I like Spike. I even thought his interpretation of "Old Boy" wasn't that bad. But he sounds as out of touch with regular fans as Dolan.

He didn't bring it up, MSG did..He said ke wasn't going to even mention it until he heard they lied about the situation

Everything related to DOLan is news worthy, especially in the new era of social media where people report tons of worthless news..

everybody with a phone is paparazzi, had there been no camera phones you think we would even known about this

Spike went on national TV to complain about having to use the VIP entrance. What did MSG lie about? Spike never says.

What free agent is coming after seeing this? You think that the free agents think of Spike Lee as a "super entitled celebrity"? You think you can just blow something like this off when you're trying to change your image?

You still supporting Knick's fans deserve James Dolan and this loser franchise. Have fun when free agents blow them off AGAIN.

Imagine deciding you’re such a loyal and regular customer of Burger King, you think you can use whatever entrance you feel like, then going on tv to cry when you’re asked to not use the employee’s one.
